Year 13 AQA English Literature and Language Mass Revision for Remembered Places

Year 13 AQA English Literature and Language Mass Revision for Remembered Places

My students were taught the majority of the Paris Anthology in year 12; however, there were a few texts outstanding that they needed to cover in year 13 and these are covered in this PowerPoint. The PowerPoint prompts them to consider AO3 mostly as this was identified as their whole class weakness. It breaks down AO3 in to manageable chunks and this has had a huge impact on their essay writing and has really pushed them towards achieving higher grades. I hope this works with your students too.

Non-Fiction SOW for KS3

This resource bundle includes two PowerPoint presentations, one of which introduces students to non-fiction texts and gets them thinking about facts versus opinions and purpose and audience, and the other is a set of lessons on different text types including charity adverts, complaints letters etc. All of the resources for the lessons are also with the bundle as well as some extra differentiation resources for lower ability groups including sentence starters. Also could be good for low ability year 9.

Introductory Lesson to English Language Paper 1 Q5 (Writing Section)

Introductory Lesson to English Language Paper 1 Q5 (Writing Section)

This is a few lessons worth of introduction to the writing section of English Language Paper 1. The lesson gets students thinking about the exam and what will be on it; however, because this is designed for low attainers, the aim is to get them interested and engaged with creative writing. It also prompts them to think carefully about structure, sentence types and using imaginative vocabulary. This is also useful for KS3 students who are low to mid attainers.

These lessons were originally designed for a very high ability year 8 group but this would work well with all year groups depending on their ability. A lot of guided reading, retrieval skills and PEE paragraph skills built into the scheme to really enhance reading skills and essay writing skills for such a high ability KS3 group.

NEW SPEC English Language Paper 1

This is a great revision resource for English Language paper 1 or can easily be used for teaching of the new paper skills. The PowerPoint recaps over which assessment objectives are assessed for on the paper and then breaks down each question into sections. Each question comes with example responses (some are given a mark) and references to the mark scheme. The exam paper the PowerPoint refers to is also attached and the only extra resource you need is the AQA mark scheme from their website.
