GCSE Poetry Anthology Revision: Recalling Poems and Key Quotes Practice. Power & Conflict

(0)
I created this PPT as my students were struggling with recalling quotes from the anthology. I found four different exam style questions and decided to make this task. It helps them to think on their feet when choosing a poem to compare theirs to, to see examples of questions that they could get in their exam and also tests them on whether they can recall quotes under pressure. I asked them to do the following: Read the exam question and think of a poem that you can compare this poem to. Write down why you would use this poem as a comparison. Read the question again and write down one quote you would use in your response when comparing these poems.

This PPT was used as part of a revision session. I displayed a piece of context on the interactive white board from the PPT. Each piece related to one of the fifteen poems in the anthology. We read through the slide as a class and they were then asked which poem the information related to. They would then write the contextual information in their exercise books to be used for revision purposes. The information is off free resources I found during Google searches. I then compiled it into this PPT.

An Inspector Calls GCSE Revision Cards Task English Literature

I created this task for an Inspector Calls revision lesson. The learners were asked to write an overview of each character and their key quotes on the back of the cards. There are also revision cards on the plot summary, themes and context for them to fill in. I have also included blank revision cards. This was to refresh their knowledge in preparation of their mock exams. Four cards per sheet. Print double sided on short flip edge.

A PPT and worksheet that I used to introduce the KS3 class to poetry. I have started off with an easy poem and then throughout the lesson taught them skills in how to analyse the poem. Some information contained in this slide has been taken from free resources available on TES. Thank you for sharing your resources.

Unseen Poetry Introduction Lesson: How to Approach Unseen Poetry Using 'The Mirror' by Sylvia Plath

A lesson introducing Unseen Poetry and what to expect in the exam paper. It explains to learners how to annotate a poem using the SMILE technique and they will analyse Plath’s poem ‘The Mirror.’ Please note: I created this PPT using mostly my own ideas, however, to create this lesson, I have also adapted/ pasted some information from other ‘FREE download’ poetry resources that I found on TES. Thankyou for sharing your work.
