KS3 Geography 'Ugly Tourism' Lesson Plan

KS3 Geography 'Ugly Tourism' Lesson Plan

(0)
Title: The ugly tourist LO: To learn about the ‘ugly’ side of tourism around the world and the government responses to it. This is an enquiry based lesson tasking pupils to figure out what an 'ugly tourist’ is. It grapples with stereotypes placed upon Western tourists (more prominently American and British tourists). This is suitably for Year 9 pupils aged 13-14. When I taught this lesson it opened up for high level discussions about cultural identity, stereotyping and differing opinions. I was impressed by my Year 9 classes ability to form opinions with evidence and reasoning. Download if you want to shape proactive citizens of the world!
