A fully planned and resourced lesson that focuses on the castle in the 14th Century, looking at two key events in particular. The first focus is on Edward using what is now commonly called Mortimer's Hole to take control from his mother and her lover before focussing on the use of the castle to imprison King David II of Scotland temporarily. This is the fourth of a six lesson sequence focussing on the history of Nottingham, particularly with focus to the castle, that has been written for KS2 children with the planning, resources and presentation all included.

A fully planned and resourced lesson that focuses on how the castle became to no longer be a castle. The focus starts with how the castle was becoming run down before looking at the role it played in the English Civil War and its demolition soon after. The focus then shifts to the new Ducal Palace that was built and why it is no longer a castle despite its name. This is the fifth of a six lesson sequence focussing on the history of Nottingham, particularly with focus to the castle, that has been written for KS2 children with the planning, resources and presentation all included.

This is the first of an eleven lesson sequence that gives a brief introduction and overview of events in Europe following the end of the First World War. The sequence will focus on the end of the war and what followed with the Treaty of Versailles, some of the key events in the 1920's, the change in British politics, the rise of Hitler and the following actions that broke the Treaty of Versailles and policy of appeasement. These lessons have been written with upper KS2 and lower KS3 in mind but should be easily adaptable for KS4 students as well. This first lesson focuses on children being able to place events in chronological order, looking at timelines and centuries before being able to place events from the interwar years accurately. Included are all the resources needed to run the lesson with a presentation and activities as well as the sequence of learning plan.
