I am compiling a series of resources covering Key Stages 3-5. These bundles focus on aspects of English Language, Literature, Media and Literacy skills. Some are complete Units of Work and are ready to use, saving you a lot of time prepping and planning your own resources. Some of the bundles will supplement a scheme that you are writing and will save huge amounts of time. I have aimed to price them accordingly to the amount of hours taken to prepare, therefore the number of hours it will save.

Of Mice and Men tricky essay Q plans

I put these together and printed them out in A3 for my students. I found them pretty helpful for encouraging them to consider the ‘tricky’ essay topics. We follow Edexcel IGCSE board, so AO1 and AO4 context are key.

Creative Writing Starters and main task- great intro to school year

We used this resource as a department to get every KS3 student to produce a 'best practice' piece which was placed at the front of every book they have in college to promote and praise their efforts. It also enabled us to see the level of literacy students have when entering your classroom.

On the slides I have annotated several of the poems and included the planning sheet that I used to show my students how to successfully compare two poems for question 1 in the exam. I've also included some annotated poems in worksheet format. These can be used in a variety of ways to try and teach unseen poetry skills at the same time.

Romeo and Juliet Introduction and interactive access to play

This is 3 lessons worth of activities to bring the play of 'Romeo and Juliet' to life for your students through an interactive exploration of the characters, setting and plot. I really enjoyed delivering this during my NQT year and will definitely be using it again when I next teach the play.

Revision workshop for Pride and Prejudice

This is a straight-forward, to the point, revision workshop series of tasks for students to complete in a lesson. I planned this for my whole department to follow easily for the AQA GCSE syllabus. Unfortunately, I cannot share the Mr. Bruff information for copyright reasons, but I'm sure you could access the e-book, or print off your own information to support the learning of students. Hope you find it helpful.

This ppt covers key characters and themes across the entire text. This has been used as an entire scheme of work to take GCSE students through the necessary content and skills required to cover assessment objectives 1-3 for this section of the GCSE paper.

This series of ppts, activities, research material and quotation revision has been used as part of the A Level AQA Lit A spec for (Modern Times- Post WW2 fiction) however it could be used to supplement another exam board. I used all of these resources alongside other non-computer-based activities/reading. This should save you a lot of time finding appropriate resources online and planning your own. Enjoy!

I have used these resources to help my students understand and learn enough quotations to get them through the AQA GCSE Literature paper 1. The plot timeline we completed alongside our first reading of the text. The aim was to enable students to independently find appropriate references from across the whole text, depending on what character, theme or relationship they were asked to write on. The ppt is short, but was the beginnings of in-depth text analysis, looking specifically AO2 analysis, but also the context (AO3) of the quotation.

GCSE AQA Anthology Poetry revision

This ppt has a series of flashcards students can use as a method to revise the poems. I used this to try and enhance my students' understanding of the second poem they choose from the 'Power and Conflict' anthology to compare with the set poem in question 1. The last couple of slides was set as a challenge for students to complete during lesson time.

This scheme came out of a very exciting CPD I was privileged to be a part of. The aim was to encourage students to approach creative writing from the position of a writer. The golden rule in the lesson was that we are all writers, including the teacher and any TAs. I haven't written a LTP/MTP with this ppt, but am very happy to answer any questions about the tasks as and when you need. Most are self explanatory, but some were carried out in a workshop with a pro writer, so I didn't include instructions. Enjoy- I loved this scheme! Students created portfolios and then upgraded their favourite story/poem and put into a class anthology, which we had printed for every student to take home.

As this has been dropped from the new GCSE syllabus, we were really keen to take our younger students through the text. The resources have been adapted to suit this age group. We used it with Year 8 students in the Summer Term, however it could be used with Year 9. We used this scheme to support reading skills necessary for English Lit Paper 1/2- modern fiction. I ran out of time in the 7-week term, so the last chapter is a little rushed. There isn't an assessment attached to the end of it, however this could easily be added on.
Year 7 Poetry Scheme based on 'Identity'

Year 7 Poetry Scheme based on 'Identity'

(1)
This is a full 6-week scheme for year 7s based on the theme of identity. We used this as a platform to explore different forms of poetry each week and to look at different cultural identities- from Irish, British, Japanese to Indigenous Australian. My students were really engaged with the scheme, particularly because it allowed them to write as well as unpick poems. Ideally, the end assessment is based on a piece of their own writing. The Irish traditional folk tales we used were a little complex for some of our students and I would differentiate these further next time around. This scheme was aiming to develop background knowledge and skills for the AQA GCSE English Lit Paper 2- unseen poetry. Mostly we wanted students to understand AO2- poet's methods and a reader's response based on their own work as well as that of others. The scheme also promotes reading literacy.
