Lesson 4 of a KS3 unit of work on religious journeys. This lesson links to the previous lessons and the future lessons. This lesson aims to teach students about places of pilgrimage in Judaism (Western Wall) and Hinduism (River Ganges). This lesson is packed with lots of different activities e.g. questioning, reading, small video clip, word fill, map reading. There is also A02 opportunities for students to create their own prayer/wish/statement to take on their own pilgrimage. The lesson offers opportunities for students to apply their learning to tasks. Cross curricular links within the lesson (e.g. Geography). Also, students are able to make comparisons to other places of pilgrimage in order to join up their learning. This is a A Level lesson from the new Eduqas spec. Its from theme 3, part A The concept of a state governed according to Islamic principles and the political and social influence of institutions as a challenge to secularisation. The lesson has a number of teacher led and student led activites. I taught this topic in about 2/3 lessons, but can be adapted to suit your class, their needs, and time constraints.

Lesson 2 of a KS3 religious journeys unit of work. This lesson aims to teach students about Christian baptism, its importance as part of the Christian journey and what happens at a baptism service. The lesson includes a variety of teaching and learning activities, for the main activity students have a choice of tasks depending on ability/behaviour/dynamic of the class. One choice of task is where students participate in their own baptism, this works so well with all abilities. The main theme throughout the lesson is encouraging team work amongst students. This KS3 lesson links to GCSE lessons. Also, can be adapted for primary school students.

Two GCSE Psychology lessons to introduce the course. Lesson 1 is what is psychology? This lesson introduces the definition, the keys areas of study and how we perceive things differently. Explores why students want to study the topic with a team work activity. Lesson 2 is approaches in psychology. This lesson introduces the approaches in psychology. Team work and effective working is promoted in this lesson. These two lessons are perfect to introduce any GCSE Psychology topic. Could also be adapted for a brief A Level introduction lesson or a lesson to promote the subject.

A KS3 Sikhism lesson teaching students about the Sikh Gurus. This lesson aims to describe key teachings of the Sikh Gurus, explain how the Gurus taught these and explain how a Sikh can apply these teachings. There is a running focus within this lesson of courage, trust and equality. Students are required to learn the definitions of these words through a dictionary task. The main task is a group work task where students read stories about the Gurus and complete a task.

A lesson teaching students about crime and punishment. Can be taught at KS3 (preparing students for future learning) or GCSE level. Or as a stand alone lesson. The lesson aims to explain the different type of crimes, different types of punishment, Christian beliefs including key teachings and how effective punishment is in our society. Students apply their learning using Christian teachings (ten commandments, Parable of the Good Samaritan, Parable of the Lost Son, golden rule). Students are encouraged to give their own opinions and views at various points in the lesson (e.g. through questioning and discussion). Students review their learning linking back to the outcomes. Learning is extended through the homework task.

BTEC HSC Tech award to be delivered to Y9s. Component 1 - Learning Aim A Human lifespan development. The lesson is an introduction to the course and to the learnign aim A. The lesson focuses on the key terms, introduces the life stages and explores what is meant by development. Activities are varied and have challenging elements. Perfect to teach as is, or can be adapted to suit.

Two lessons dedicated to revision of the topic Issues of Human Rights. A range of activities (student and teacher led) to support students revision prior to the final exams. Can be adapted to suit your groups. These lessons are planned for mid / high ability. Can use alongside my other resource - the Eduqas revision mind maps.

A new spec Eduqas lesson. The first lesson in the topic Issues of Relationships. The lesson focused on the different family types and the importance of the family. There are opportunities for questioning and discussion. The final task is for students to answer a sample b part question as an opportunity for practice and review.

Lesson 5 of a KS3 unit of work on religious journeys. The lesson follows on from the previous lessons or is ideal as a stand alone lesson. The lesson aims to teach students about pilgrimage to Hajj and makes links to other places of pilgrimage. The lesson introduces pilgrimage as one of the five pillars of Islam. There is a choice of tasks for students to complete (market place activity, watch clip and questions, or create own pilgrimage map). For the activity you will need information sheets about what happens on pilgrimage - sorry these are not something I have created but can be found on TES or you an use a Sue Penne textbook. Without the sheets the lesson can still be taught with the video clip and questions activity. The lesson ends with reviewing own personal journey and ties in the previous lessons. A resource for the EDUQAS NEW SPECIFICATION, topic issues of good and evil. This lesson explores the different types of punishment and whether they are appropriate for specific crimes. This lesson provides students with the opportunity for discussion. It also links to previous learning about Christian views. It is suited for lower ability students, however can be tweaked or merged with other lessons on crime and punishment.

GCSE Psychology lesson for the Edexcel spec. This lesson explores key information about the study and breaks the study down in to manageable sections. Students also have the opportunity to complete the Buss-Perry Questionnaire (downloaded from the internet, but I have attached it so you don't have to search for it separately). The questionnaire allows students to activity learn and understand how psychologists complete research. This lesson was originally taught as two 50 minute lessons but can be adapted to teach in one lesson.

A introduction lesson to world issues (poverty, prejudice, crime, punishment). This can be taught as part of a mini unit of work prior to GCSE (at KS3) to prepare students for future learning or can be taught at GSCE. The lesson aims to teach students about key Christian teachings and how they can be applied/used to help when dealing with world issues. Students will use a range of skills, this lesson focuses on developing interpersonal skills and skills of analysis and investigation. In this lesson students learnt about these four key Christian teachings - the Ten Commandments, the golden rule, the Parable of the Good Samaritan and the Parable of the Lost Son.

A Eduqas new spec lesson from the Issues of Relationships. The lesson is the Role of the Men and Women. It discusses the traditonal and modern views of men/women. Students are given a series of Bible quotes to support the differing views and have to epxlain their meaning. Learning focuses around the importance of the family and the home. A range of teacher led and student led activites. Also included prepped learning (homework) activity on Christian attitudes to marriage.

You will need the Eduqas textbooks for this lesson. A new spec Eduqas lesson on prejudice and discrimination exploring what the key terms mean and Christian attitudes to prejudice and discrimination. A range of student and teacher led activites. The lesson can be taught as it is or adapted further.

Lesson about the origins of Buddhism and key beliefs. Lots of opportuniteis for questioning - targetted and whole class. Students love the Buddha wordfil and film strip activities. The lessons provided the class teacher with a variety of options for the final activity. Aimed at KS3 but can be taught as an introduction to Buddhism at KS4. Can be tweaked for KS2.

A GCSE Eduqas new spec lesson for the topic Issues of Relationships. The lesson focused on the attitudes to cohabitation and adultery from a Christian persepctive. Opportuties for teacher led discussions, reviewing key teachings and Bible quotes and student led tasks. The final task is a homework task on marriage outside of religious traditions (can be completed in lesson due to time differences).
