AQA Combined Science Trilogy - Chemistry Whole Unit 1 - Atomic Structure & The Periodic Table

AQA Combined Science Trilogy - Chemistry Whole Unit 1 - Atomic Structure & The Periodic Table

October 2016 **Newly updated with those mark schemes everyone needed! apologies!.** May 2016 ** Newly updated with "revision packs" & questions for unit 1.** April 2016 **Newly updated with end of unit 1 tests for higher and foundation tiers** In this purchase you will find powerpoints for every lesson in the first unit of the New AQA Combined Science Trilogy - Chemistry - Atomic Structure & The Periodic Table. There are also many worksheets, help resources and homeworks. Unlike other content on TES, this resource pack has been freshly designed this year, with the new specification in hand. As the level of challenge ramps up very quickly, I've thought carefully about how to introduce concepts progressively, such as electron configuration --> ions --> reactivity. If you've seen my other content, you'll know that my powerpoint formatting is very modern and clean, and the worksheets are of a high quality to aid with understanding and recall. I have also included a mid term assessment for higher and foundation tier on the basics. The lessons included are as follows: 5.1.1.1 (1) - Atoms & Elements 5.1.1.1 (2) - Compounds, Formulae & Equations 5.1.1.2 (1) - Mixtures (Filtration & Crystallisation) 5.1.1.2 (2) - Mixtures (Chromatography) 5.1.1.2 (3) - Mixtures (Distillation) 5.1.1.3 - History of the Atom 5.1.1.4 - Atomic Structure 5.1.1.5 - The Size & Mass of Atoms 5.1.1.6/5.1.2.1 - Electronic Structure & The Periodic Table 5.1.2.2 - Development of the Periodic Table 5.1.2.3 - Metals & Non-Metals 5.1.2.4 - Group 0 (The Noble Gases) 5.1.2.5 - Group 1 (The Alkali Metals) 5.1.2.6 - Group 7 (The Halogens) Feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you all for your continued support, Lewis

AQA Combined Science Trilogy - Chemistry Whole Unit 2 - Structure, Bonding & Properties

AQA Combined Science Trilogy - Chemistry Whole Unit 2 - Structure, Bonding & Properties

**Updated Late August 2016** Now includes more detailed lesson pack on metallic bonding and corrosion **Updated July 2016** Now includes foundation friendly lesson on covalent bonding and giant covalent structures, and identify the errors covalent bonding worksheet, where you can draw bad dot-cross diagrams and get the students to fix them. In this pack, you will find lesson powerpoints, worksheet and homeworks for the new AQA Combined Science Trilogy: Chemistry specification - Unit 2: Structure, bonding and the properties of matter. Like my other resources, this will be updated regularly as lessons are developed and improved upon over time. I will also be updating shortly with an end of unit assessment and mark scheme for use with your classes. Please note: I have decided to remove "polymers" from this unit, as it lends itself better to unit 7 - organic chemistry. I have also integrated states 'states of matter' and 'state symbols' into the lessons as they don't really deserve their own lessons by year 9/10. I have also included a level differentiated progression of learning map (levels 9-1) for the key skills I try to embed in my classes for students of different working levels. This is very useful for planning assessments too! I hope you enjoy, and find these resources useful, as always I look forward to hearing your feedback. You will find the following lessons in this pack: 5.2.1.1 - Chemical Bonds 5.2.1.2 - Ionic Bonding 5.2.1.3 & 5.2.2.3 - Ionic bonding, structure and properties. 5.2.1.4 - Covalent Bonding 5.2.1.4 & 5.2.2.4 - The properties of simple covalent molecules. 5.2.1.4 & 5.2.2.6 - Giant covalent structures. 5.2.1.5 & 5.2.2.7 & 5.2.2.8 - Metallic bonding - (Will be updated on 20th July 2016) 10.3.1 - Corrosion & its prevention. Integrated content (states of matter and state symbols) Removed content (polymers).

AQA C2.2 - Properties of ionic compounds

Lesson 2 on the properties of ionic compounds. Print the info slides and get the kids to answer the questions by collecting the info from around the room. Use roleplay by assigning each child a charge (equal positives and negatives in the room), get them to build a lattice. Practical - build a circuit by making a salt solution -> light bulb should come on!

AQA C2.1 & C2.2 Structure & Bonding - Ultimate Revision Resource

Essentially a book, that consolidates all of the key information for C2.1 and C2.2 Chemistry. Each topic finishes with a set of practice questions, the students can self assess their work from the mark scheme at the back. Examples of how you might use this guide: - Handed out as a revision resource ahead of exams - Given to students at the start of term as a study guide/lesson companion. - Used to issue homeworks which students can then self assess and track their scores. - Used in a lesson as a revision resource/or for teacher deliver as a power point. Please provide feedback, it's the best way for me to improve these resources!
