These are two lessons which introduce an infographic and exam style question to students.
Lesson one focuses on the GAPS, analysing the infographic in groups, and creating a detailed plan for one paragraph.
Lesson two focuses on writing practice - introductions, topic sentences and an example answer where students engage with the marking rubrics.
The infographic is from a past Paper One (L&L) paper.
Unit of work (6 lessons) designed to teach iGCSE students descriptive writing techniques they will need for Paper Two.
Techniques covered:
sensory description
oxymoron and juxtaposition
zoom in structure technique
metaphors and personification
show don’t tell
varying sentence lengths and paragraph lengths
Aimed at moderate/high level learners - tasks are differentiated with challenge options.
All additional resources are included as well. Lessons are designed for 1 hour and 20 minutes so it may be more than 6 lessons.

A unit of work designed for IB English lang lit students working towards their IO.
Tasks include supported group analysis to begin with, moving into student-led analysis which is fully supported by questions and additional resources.
