A small starter or plenary activity. Suitable for GCSE/KS3/KS4/SEN Cut out descriptions and characters and give to students. They have to read the descriptions and draw picture of that character. Students then match description to the real fictional character. Good for getting students thinking about descriptions and creative writing.

My students are currently studying AQA Step Up to English, in preparation for their exam I created this resource to give them a practice for the real exam. This can be adapted for GCSE and KS3 purposes. We have been studying component 2- Family For this we have done a series of lessons based on The Secret Garden and The Railway Children. I have used the AQA exam paper for this module and adapted it to fit in with the two books. This is a good revision exercise for your students before they sit the paper or students that want to practice some English skills pre-GCSE. Students practice: -Inferring -Creative Writing -Comparing two texts My students found it very useful Hope you enjoy :)

I have created a engaging and interactive revision booklet for GCSE students who are sitting their GCSE. It is focused around the writing questions (section B of the exams) AO5/6 (it can be used for other exam boards also) It is detailed and contains key information regarding both papers with various exam style activities to aid revision. Each paper is broken down and contains revision material It also looks at the stages of PAF, Linguistic techniques SPAG It contains up to 40 pages and would fill a weeks worth of lessons easily. This can also be printed for students to complete independently for homework/revision. My students have found this a worthwhile booklet and it has helped them loads It can be adapted to suit different abilities I have used it with KS3/4 students and SEN students. Hope you enjoy :)

First activity -students draw the island from given description. Second activity -students describe senses when they step on the island for the first time. Can extend for HA students and get them to use adjectives and other linguistic techniques such as alliteration, metaphors, similes.
