KS2 Reading and writing planning and resources for the book ‘Jay and the Giant Sand Monsters’ by Dawn Harwood. Ten sets of questions covering all chapters in the book allow for thorough understanding and comprehension in a guided reading style format covering areas such as vocabulary, prediction, ordering, inference and explanation. For writing, there are six planned sessions covering creativity, a descriptive focus, language techniques, sentence stretchers, an extended write and finally a debate and discussion suggestion. Some of these sessions may take longer than one lesson.
