This is a game to engage children in play while achieving the following teaching objectives : 1) Help children to recognise that some words can be grouped into families. 2) Help children to acquire speed and accuracy in reading these words as they play the game.

My class children loved "Elmer" by David McKee. They loved the delightful patchwork elephant in the story, and the way the other elephants painted themselves on "Elmer's day". I created this sight word tool to ride on their interest . This is a Powerpoint based interactive teaching tool and contains all 40 sight words from the Dolch word Pre-primer list. It can be used for presentation , revision , or assessment of sight words.

It is a good exercise for speed and accuracy as well as you can select the speed of play. Reviewing sight words or assessing children for their sight words need not be a dreary process. Here's a fun way to help children recognise 52 sight words from the Dolch word list (Primer set). Each child will choose a jelly bean and say the sight word. They can then touch the jellybean to see it jump and transform into food. When all the words are read, the feast is ready ! For some added fun, a bone for the chef’s pet dog, Dappy , is hidden in one of these jellybeans. The lucky kid will find the bone for Dappy !

Most children love balloons , and there is nothing like including some virtual balloon popping activities to add some fun to learning. This is a Powerpoint based cool math game and contains numerals 1-10 and number words one to ten. How to play : Move the slides using the arrow key at the bottom right hand corner. Each child will choose and touch a balloon to pop. In set 1 , a numeral will be revealed. The child will read it , then touch the numeral again to reveal the “present”. Set 2 is similar , except that number words will be presented.

This is a handy and fun game to practise number bonds to make 10. Content : This is a Microsoft Powerpoint based interactive teaching tool and contains 20 number bonds questions. How to play : Touch/click on a balloon. A number will be shown. The balloon will become bigger. Provide the number that can make 10 with the first before the balloon pops after 2 blows. The answer will be shown when the balloon pops. For small groups , students can provide the answer verbally. For large groups, a template is provided for them to write their answer, and check it off when the balloon pops. I started on all these game creation to suit the interests of the children I teach. To my surprise, they started giving me feedback and even dreamt up new ideas and shared with me. And they get so thrilled when they see their ideas being put into the games.
