A series of four worksheets focusing on developing students understanding of equations of lines. 1 - Calculating gradients and drawing lines with a gradient 2- Plotting straight lines from an equation and then calculating it’s gradient and identifying the y-intercept. 3 - Finding the equation of a line. 4- Finding the equation from different information - This worksheets aims to consolidate students understanding by giving them different information e.g. the gradient and one co-ordinate which they then have to use to plot the graph and find the equation. Answers provided as pdf.
A complete lesson on finding the percentage change. The lesson starts off with recapping how to find the percentage of an amount and then expressing a number as a percentage of another number, which pupils can then practice, including questions with different units. The lesson then progresses to finding the change in percentage after an increase or reduction. After a quick bit of AFL, pupils then move onto an independent worksheet split into questions on… .Expressing an amount as a percentage of another .Finding the percentage change. . Calculating percentage profit. All answers are included on the PowerPoint Please let me know what you think of the resource so that I can improve it. Happy Teaching
A worksheet on drawing and reading Pictograms. The resources that I found for this topic were fairly basic with not much depth. I designed this worksheet to add more of a problem solving aspect where students have to piece together different pieces of information. The answers are provided in the PowerPoint. Feedback is much appreciated. Happy teaching :)
Two lessons on converting between Fractions and decimals. Lesson 1 - Converting decimals to fractions using knowledge of place value and simplifying fractions. Includes BINGO as a plenary. Lesson 2 - Converting fractions to decimals firstly through the use of equivalent fractions and then using short division methods. This is then summarised by getting the students to compare the two methods and to explain when each method should be used.
A lesson on adding and subtracting negative numbers complete with an animated PowerPoint a a carefully designed differentiated worksheet. The PowerPoint consists of a mixed review starter and then introduces the concept of adding and subtracting negative through the temperature in the classroom. e.g. Adding cold air will make the room feel colder (so more negative). The PowerPoint also includes additional questions at select points to check students understanding before moving onto independent practice (Worksheet).
Two worksheets on forming and solving algebraic equations. Worksheet 1 - forming equations from shape properties. Section A - Angle facts Section B- Perimeter Section C- Shape properties. Worksheet 2 - forming equations from worded All equations formed are linear equations ( 2 step, 3 step and variables on both sides) Used for both KS3 and KS4 Answers are provided
A complete 10 lesson series on basic algebra skills (Over 100 slides !). Lesson has been used for GCSE foundation students as well as introducing k pupils to algebra. All lessons start with a review section which recaps key skills, followed by carefully selected examples to be modeled by the teacher. Practice sections are differentiated into support, core and challenge with answers provided for all lessons. Worksheets are also included. Lesson 1: Operations with negative numbers Lesson 2: Collecting like terms Lesson 3: Constructing and using Formulae Lesson 4: Substituting into formulae Lesson 5: Solving simple equations (one-step) Lesson 6: Solving two-step equations Lesson 7: Solving equations with unknowns on both sides Lesson 8: Substitution (again) Lesson 9: Forming and solving equations Lesson 10: Changing the subject Feedback is appreciated :)
A lesson all ready to go. The objective for pupils is to use their knowledge of equivalent fractions to develop an understanding of the links between percentages and decimals. Stater activity checks understanding of comparing two fractions through equivalent fractions. The first main part of the lesson uses knowledge of equivalent fractions to convert fractions to decimals and percentages by converting to an equivalent fraction out of 100. Pupils then learn to convert fractions to decimals and percentages through using short division, introducing recurring decimals. Pupils then practice applying their new knowledge to ordering a mixture of fractions, decimals and percentages. And finally pupils review their learning through Fractions decimals and percentages BINGO. Feedback Appreciated
