I use this resource with my Year 9 students in a Musical Futures-style project. Students learn all of the different band parts to Boulevard of Broken Days by Green Day and then form bands. Assessment is the final performance. Included: Guitar part, with chord boxes, tablature & structure for whole song. Bass guitar part, with bass tablature & structure for whole song. Keyboard/piano part, with standard notation, keyboards with chord labels & structure for whole song. All files are in PDF format.

This simple resource will fit the vast majority of consumer keyboards, from Casio, Yamaha & Korg through to standard pianos. Currently tested on Knight, Yamaha, George Russell & Steinway. File 1 has the 6 keyboard exercises, with just the notes. File 2 has the 6 keyboard exercises with the notes labelled by pitch. Recently my GCSE AQA Performing Arts students visited the Nottingham-based venue Rock City. They did this in order to learn information that is vital for their Unit 1 coursework. Whilst there we conducted interviews and learnt about the history of the venue. To collate information, I have since put together all of the interviews and information that can be used for their coursework which provides enough detail and variation for students to gain top-end marks. This resource is also perfect for BTEC courses, such as revision for the Unit 1 exam or for industry-based research to compliment coursework. My school is the only one to have ever visited Rock City on a private tour so the information gained is not available on Wikipedia or other music job-based websites. This resource is invaluable for students to gain additional industry-based context.

The overall project is for a group of students to compose their own pop songs. Students will learn how to play chords on guitar or keyboard, how to play a basic drum beat and how a pop song is structured. Students will also write their own lyrics. There are two files - the word document, which can be edited to suit your own school's layouts and a PDF showing the original layout designed for my old school to give you an idea. The original file was designed on a macbook so some images of the word document may have moved around a bit. Referring to the PDF will allow you to easily correct any potential errors.
