I've been an art and design educator for 10 years. Working in both the UK and internationally. I believe it is incredibly important to nurture globally-minded students who are able to communicate visually and apply critical thinking to the art and media we all consume daily.

Incredibly easy salt dough sculptures enabling students to achieve great 3D results at home with very little equipment. This is a perfect task ready to email for distance learning, for independent learning tasks or homework. The task is linked to British female sculptor Barbara Hepworth and asks students to analyse a piece of her work before creating their own.

This formal elements of art worksheet makes a nice change from a rectangular tonal bar for students to practice shading, blending, and mark making. Can be used in a variety of ways as starters and plenaries, cover and distance learning. Have your students try different skills in each word. How could they link the word to the skill practice? Great for a variety of age ranges particularly my year 7 and 8 students have enjoyed practicing their colour pencil blending.

Students work in groups of four to indentify a problem which can be aided by use of a satellite. I have guided my students to start by looking at the UN Global Goals. Focusing on the design cycle and modelling students are asked to; research, design, model, test, change, evaluate and present. It is a short scheme good for 6 - 8 weeks with the potential to extend with a merchandising opportunity. The task is very open, students are required to independently research elements. My students are designing with autodesk and creating physical 3D models though this could be adapted however you feel best suits your students. Includes homework task and TOK questioning. Below is the link to the NASA website which inspired this sol. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/teach/activity/build-a-satellite
