This bundle contains three resources for teaching students about classifying matter. It has an interactive power point which goes over characteristics of elements, compounds, mixtures and solutions that directs the students to create a foldable. There is a worksheet set with concept map on classifying matter. I have also included writing task cards for the students. I also have the products available as separate listings. Bundle contains: Elements Compound Mixtures Solutions Power Point Classification of Matter: Questions, Practice, Concept map and KEY Classification of Matter: Chemistry Writing Task Cards

Periodic Table Activity: Angels & Demons

The students will be organizing good and evil characters from pop culture. This is a Periodic Activity to allow students to experience and simulate what it is like to organize a group of subjects based on properties. This is an excellent Halloween activity for secondary science! Some of the properties have periodic trends, while other do not. Students will be organizing good and evil pop culture characters based on their Altruistic score, Malicious score, Fatality score, Jovial score and Intellect score. There are other properties the students can use as well by analyzing the character tiles. There are a total of 63 character tiles. Student need to use ALL 63. If they need to, they can add unknown character tiles as well and predict the traits an unknown character could have based on their placement in the Periodic Table. There are many different arrangements the students could potentially arrive at. I included three examples of possible arrangements. I require the student groups to use at least two properties to set up their tables. The students will mount the table unto a poster board and explain in writing on the board the reason for the set up and use arrows and color to show the periodic trends, groupings and trends within the periodic trends. The students are not constrained to only use a square to rectangle configuration. They are able to choose which ever arrangement they would like as long as it makes sense and can be successfully explained.

Electron Configuration and Orbital Diagram Bundle: Power Point, Student Handou and Graphic Organizer

Power Point: Electron Configuration is covered in detail explaining Quantum numbers and how they relate to each other. This power Point is designed for secondary science courses and includes practice problems within the power point with answers. Standard electron configuration, noble gas configurations and the electron configurations of ions are all covered and include practice problems. Orbital diagrams are explained with practice problems. There is a student handout included that has the slide number and problems on it so students can work the problems out along with the power point presentation. The handout is one page front and back. GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Electron configuration and orbital diagrams can be very difficult for students. This fold-out foldable presents the main components with practice problems. This is a useful foldable that students can continuously review while working on electron configuration and orbital diagrams.

Gas Laws Bundle: Three graphic organizer foldables for INB

There are three foldables in this bundle all cetered around gas laws. The first two cover temperature and prssure conversions with practice problems. The third is over six gas laws. Temperature Conversion Brochure: The temperature conversion foldable works great for learning about temperature, thermodynamic units, gas laws and anywhere students need to convert between temperature units. The units covered are Celsius, Kelvin and Fahrenheit. The brochure has places where students record notes, fill out a formula conversion table and has practice temperature conversion problems. The teacher key is detailed. This brochure can easily be glued into composition notebooks, spiral notebooks or placed into a folder. Gas Pressure Conversion Foldable: This brochure foldable is an excellent math foundation lesson going into gas laws. Students will look at diagrams depicting different gas pressures, learn about Dalton's Partial Pressure Law and how to solve for total pressure. Inside students will learn to convert gas pressure units; Atm, Psi, Torr, mmHg, Pa and kPa with 14 practice problems. A detailed teacher key is included with examples of how the equation should be set up. Gas Laws Fold-out Foldable: The Gas Laws foldable starts with an overview of gas law specific vocabulary, a look at the relationships between gas pressure, temperature, volume and gas particles. There is a section for various gas constants based on pressure units. The inside of the foldable goes over the gas formulas for Boyle's Law, Charles Law, Gay-Lussac Law, Comined Gas Law, Avogadro's Law and Ideal Gas Law. Each gas law has an example problem that you can work with your students. The teacher's key is detailed with the steps on how to solve each problem including the temperature conversions to Kelvins. You can also purchase the resources separately.

Periodic Table Bundle: Power Point, Graphic Organizer, Scavenger hunt

The Periodic Table Bundle contains an informative power point, Periodic Table graphic organizer for INB, and a scavenger hunt for the 118 element Periodic Table. POWER POINT: This Periodic Table and Periodicity Power Point covers the historical development of the Periodic Table, the types of elements found on it, the categories of the elements, and the periodic trends of electronegativity, atomic radii, ionic radii and ionization energy. (43 slides) GRAPHIC ORGANIZER FOR INB This Periodic Table Graphic Organizer is designed for Interactive notebooks in a secondary science class. Students will color a 118-element periodic table according to groups such as Alkaline metals, Halogens and nonmetals.Students will also cover periodic trends such as electronegativity, atomic radii, ionic radii and ionization.( 4 student pages, 4 page teacher key plus instructions.) PERIODIC TABLE SCAVENGER HUNT This is a great worksheet for getting to know the periodic table. The worksheet covers all 118 elements. I included a FREE downloadable periodic table that I used in making the scavenger hunt. This scavenger hunt is excellent in informing the students of how certain elements got their names and where groups are found. Two page student pages. Teacher key included.

Electromagnetic Bundle: Power point, 2 foldables, Visible light worksheet with speed of light

Electromagnetic Spectrum and Energy Power Point The power point covers the electromagnetic spectrum, light, photons, waves and their characteristics. the relationship between frequency, wavelength, and the speed of light are introduced with the formula for speed of light. Calculating the energy of the electromagnetic waves is also covered with introduction to Planck's constant and the energy formula derived using the constant. How we see light is presented along with slides for each type of electromagnetic ray and how they can affect human health. I also have a slide on cosmic rays since they have the most energy of all electromagnetic rays. Electromagnetic Spectrum Graphic Organizer (with energy and light formulas) The fold-out foldable covers the electromagnetic spectrum, light, photons, waves and their characteristics. The relationship between frequency, wavelength, and the speed of light are introduced with the formula for speed of light. Calculating the energy of the electromagnetic waves is also covered with introduction to Planck's constant and the energy formula derived using the constant. Electromagnetic Spectrum: Eight Types of Waves 1 pg Foldable This one page foldable has eight flaps for a description of radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, gamma and cosmic rays. There are illustrations, instructions and a key included. Visible Light Spectrum: Speed of Light, Planck's Constant, Energy of Light In this worksheet students will use a visible light spectrum chart to calculate the wavelength of different colors of light. Then using the light equation and speed of light the students will figure out the frequency for each color. In the next step, students will use the frequency and Planck's constant in order to calculate the energy each color of light carries. Students will also need to color the spectrum. I have mine work out their calculations on a separate sheet of notebook paper and turn it in attached to their charts. I have included an answer sheet so you can see what the final should look like. For my younger students I give them the color wavelengths. For my physics students I have them use the chart and figure the wavelengths out on their own. I use this in both Chemistry and Physics.
