I printed out and laminated the primer and first grade words. Then, set them up at a literacy center with a bucket of refrigerator magnets. One set of each was enough to keep students working for 15 minutes. You could also print small bundles of words and photocopy them for individual students. A great activity to engage students with hands-on materials while reviewing important Dolch Words. Includes all pre-primer, primer, first, second and third grade Dolch Words. Note: Be aware that you will need manipulative letters such as refrigerator magnets, letter tiles, etc.

Your students will have fun “dabbing” or coloring in the letters to spell CVC words. I’m editing this to include: I tried this in my own classroom and it was a wonderful tool to see who could spell CVC words. It worked so well because EVERYONE FINISHED IT!!! The kids really enjoy “dabbing” so it was no problem to get reluctant workers engaged!

This is a great way to reinforce the Short Vowel sounds! Your students cut out the pieces then glue them down to the letter that makes the corresponding short vowel sound. Comes out cute enough for a bulletin board!! Simple enough to use for Independent Work or a Center. I used it during an observation and my principal loved it!!
