Year 8 History Full SOW 2016-17 (2 year KS3)

(0)
This is the 2016-17 Scheme of work which has been produced for Y8. The lessons I plan and sell on here correspond perfectly with the SOW. This is a SOW which has been honed, changed and improved over my years of teaching. The SOW offers a week by week breakdown (using 2016/17 dates) of each lesson (based on a 2 lesson a week average). It is easy and comprehensive for the non specialists to use and works well for us keeping track as we have many split classes in lower school. Suggested homeworks included and a column to enter the annual data collections can be added which can make planning assessments easier. Lessons for this SOW can be bought in bulk as well as individually. Please message me any requests if I havent yet uploaded any units and I will endeavour to upload them ASAP.

Slavery - Middle Passage

(0)
This lesson details the Middle Passage for slaves taken to West Indies and America. The lesson looks at the Middle Passage through ROOTs and through sources (interpretations). Exam technique practiced in the lesson revolves around the Q2 on the new AQA 2016/17 spec. This question is an interpretations questions and gets students to consider the differences in the provenance of the interpretations. As it is a very difficult style question and foreign to what students are used to a very scaffolded worksheet is included. There is guidance to get students to consider the Time/Author/Purpose & Place of each interpretation before analysing them completely. As always lesson and resources have been produced to a high standard of presentation to ensure high levels of engagement. The lesson contains an activity which would require you to have access to ROOTs to watch the Middle Passage scene - it is advisable before watching that students are warned scenes can be distressing and occasionally graphic.
