Keynote slideshow on Task 3 of the composition unit STRUCTURE. *mac users only* Slide show includes embedded AUDIO - intro slide with biffy clyro to play as students enter. discuss the unusual intro, what did they think was going to happen? what did it make them think of? etc etc. Did you expect a standard rock song to begin after over a minute of orchestral stabs? -slide 2 - baby love starts with a chorus, kiss principle keep it simple stupid slide 3 - love me do by the beatles - intro, chorus, intro, chorus! slide 4 - discussing the beatles progression in just 4 years slide 5 - the beatles tomorrow never knows, indian influence, drone, one chord for the whole song, one section? slide 6 - billy joel scenes from an italian restaurant up to section E no chorus yet! is there a chorus? stop after 3 min 30 and explain the song is over 7 minutes long and we are already on section E! slide 7 - has the criteria that needs to be followed… You should now choose one of your developed ideas to turn into a completed composition using musical structures and you should consider the following: style introductions song structure (12 bar blues, verse chorus etc) effective use of repetition and contrast pace e.g maintaining momentum You must hand in completed compositions (audio/video recordings/ lyric sheets) annotated notes/blog entries Remember to justify how your song meets the brief.
