GCSE Physics - Contact and non-contact forces lesson plan, presentation and worksheets

(0)
A lesson plan, presentation, and worksheets for teaching about forces. Contact and non-contact forces are covered as is drawing of vector diagrams of forces. Students apply this to real world situations in the summary task. Aimed at GCSE Physics students and GCSE AQA Trilogy but also suitable for all other exam boards. This is one of a sequence of lessons, the others are available here Grade Gain
Physics Taboo 2

Physics Taboo 2

(1)
Taboo card game covering the main topics for Physics 2: electricity, motion, forces, stars. Motion: Speed, velocity, acceleration, terminal velocity, stopping distances etc. Electricity: AC, Mains, Static, plugs, resistance etc. Stars: Lifecycle, nuclear processes - fission and fusion Students play in teams of two. One person picks up a card and has to describe the phrase in the top box without using any of the words on the card. Their team mate has to guess it to win. The opposing two members of the four can jump in and steal the card by guessing correctly.

Powers of Ten and Standard Form Lesson plan and presentation

(1)
The lesson plan and accompanying presentation for Science students to learn about standard form, aka scientific notation, and common prefixes. The PPT is fully editable and has opportunities for AfL embedded into the lesson. Any images are CC0 license so royalty free. This takes students from guesstimating size, to understanding the need for standard form to recognising standard prefixes such as kilo. There is an accompanying homework task (available separately) - Powers of Ten, Prefixes and Standard form Homework/worksheet.
Electromagnetic radiation splat

Electromagnetic radiation splat

(0)
An animated PowerPoint file that enables you to play splat. Have a list of questions where the answers are parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and have two students at the board. The first person to "splat" the right answer wins. Winner stays on is always a good game but you can rotate in teams or anyway you like. Excellent for revision of the electromagnetic spectrum.

GCSE Physics Parallel Circuits lesson plan and presentation

(0)
A complete lesson plan and PPT presentation about parallel circuits for new GCSE(2016). Covers all the main topics, measuring current and voltage, calculating resistance and understanding why resistance in a parallel circuit decreases the more branches there are.

Powers of Ten, Prefixes and Standard Form Homework/Worksheet

This resource is an opportunity for students to practice converting to common prefixes such as micro, milli etc. and converting numbers to standard form or scientific notation. There are 20 questions for them to complete and I have included the answers as well! This is aimed at Science students for the new maths content within the new GCSE (2016) for AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC but it would be equally suitable for anyone needing to practice standard form so any Maths students. It is designed as a homework but can equally well be used as a lesson activity. This resource is designed to accompany my Powers of Ten lesson (available separately) which is a good introduction to this worksheet.

A set of game cards for Taboo covering the basic topics of Physics: Energy, Waves, Origins of the Universe, Energy transfers, Conduction, Convection, Radiation. Students play in teams of two. One person picks up a card and has to describe the phrase in the top box without using any of the words on the card. Their team mate has to guess it to win. The opposing two members of the four can jump in and steal the card by guessing correctly. This is an ideal revision activity as it forces the students to describe the topic without using key words. This increases understanding.

GCSE Physics Required practical 4c - Resistance of a diode

This has been produced as an extract of the AQA required practical document. It is designed to be printed two pages to a page and flip on short edge to form a booklet that students can then stick in their books. This is for required practical 4 - Resistance. The content is from AQA and the layout and formatting is my own. AQA may change the contents of their practical this is correct as of 07-07-2016. I have split it into 3 different practicals as that is how I prefer to teach it. They are 4a, 4b and 4c.
