Powerpoint Poem about the colour BROWN. EYFS/KS1. Simple rhyming poem which I wrote myself to introduce a topic on colour recognition, help pupils learn the colour brown and identify brown objects around them. Lots of ‘brown’ photos and an easy to follow pattern about a ‘brown world’. Links with cross curricular topics on ‘Colour’, ‘Rainbows’, ‘All around me’, ‘Outside’ and Literacy ‘Poetry’.

Powerpoint Poem about the colour GREEN. EYFS/KS1. KS1 set of four resources including an interactive powerpoint lesson Signs of Autumn (41slides). Learning Objectives: To know the names of the Autumn months. To recognise the signs of Autumn around me. To explain why some small animals hibernate. To know the features of harvest and recognise harvest grain, fruit and vegetables. The slides include photographs of animals which hibernate (dormouse, bat, frog, grass snake etc) and do not hibernate (squirrels, badgers, rabbits/hares). At specific points there are short paired talk activities and simple class activities eg Name the harvest fruits, name the harvest vegetables, a grain chart activity, summer clothes and autumn clothes. There are 2 youtube links – a short Autumn song and a simple Autumn story. Cross curricular KOW /Science work on topics of ‘Seasons’, ‘Autumn’, ‘Animals’, ‘Nature’. Autumn Acrostic poetry templates (set of 4) Autumn, Leaf, Scarecrow, Farmer each with a linked word mat to help pupils begin each line of their poem. Leaf investigation template - simple to use with a easy to identify key. Maths data handling graph which scaffolds an Autumn walk /data collection with corresponding questions.

It consists of a range of interactive cross curricular activities which begin using pupil knowledge of Bonfire Night and develop into the historical account of the Gunpowder Plot. Learning includes: Understanding the link between Bonfire Night celebrations and the Gunpowder Plot, developing historical vocabulary, and using historical documents to extract and interpret information. The power-point promotes collaboration, discussion and information sharing in a historical, geographical and mathematical context.

To recognise the features of instructions (What materials are needed, method, using an imperative (bossy) verb, sequencing actions and numbering each stage in order, using diagrams and pictures). Five DT activities for pupils to read, understand and make. The activities include : Paste egg bunny, Easter basket, spring daffodil, Easter nests, pompom chick. KS1&2 Easter story sequencing activity. Learning objective: To sequence and retell the Easter story in order. Pupils cut out the images and descriptions and sequence the story onto a storyboard template. There are three templates attached which support differentiation and reading levels. HA template is numbered only and pupils order the story into the numbered boxes. MA is differentiated using key words from the main text in the numbered boxes. LA order the story into the numbered boxes with the support of key sentences which they can match to the main text.

KS1 Dark House writing frames. Set of three writing frames (eight boxes each) with simple writing stem using basic core vocabulary. HA has stem in first box only to enable pupils to use own core vocabulary and spell known words. MA and LA have differentiated simple stems in all eight boxes. There is a simple dark house noun vocabulary mat included which pupils can use to complete their sentences. This resource works well with the story stimulus ‘A dark, dark wood…’ and is a good way of helping children develop their own reading and writing skills through making their own books.

Y2, 3, 4. Booklet about glossaries. Can be used as a stand- alone lesson on glossaries or as part of a topic on Norman Castles. Also useful as an assessment following work on glossaries. The glossary activities are organised into a short workbook. Learning objectives: To know that a glossary is an alphabetical list of words with definitions found in a non-fiction book. To recognise the difference between a word and a definition . To put words in alphabetical order. To match words about castles to the correct definitions. Page 1 Offers pupils a selection of vocabulary relating to Norman castles and asks them to select four words to order alphabetically and set out as a glossary. Page 2 Questions about the key vocabulary and glossary. At the end of the booklet there is a set of 12 ‘castle’ glossary cards with a description for the pupils to cut out and order into alphabetical order.

Ks1 & 2 shark ID mat. Photos of 16 sharks for pupils to use as part of a research activity or game. Research on laptops and ipads common features of sharks using the mat as a stimulus. Put a shark image on the whiteboard and ask the children to identify the shark and its features as part of a game. Play ' shark bingo'. Print and laminate 2 pairs of images of each shark and play 'shark snap' or ' shark pairs' in a small group.
