This is a complete lesson covering Gender Dysphoria (Gender Identity Disorder). Resources include a complete lesson PowerPoint, activities such as case studies, evaluation sorting activity leading to essay practice, video documentary and assessment marking activity. I have used this at A'level, however, it could easily be adapted and used for PSHE. AQA Psychology A'Level 7182/3

This PowerPoint is aimed at students and can form part of the taught delivery. It goes through the the reading and researching process and how to reading effectively, considering the role and significance of the book. It begins to introduce source evaluation. The resource log accompanies the PowerPoint and I used it in subsequent lessons as students got further into the research process. AQA A'Level EPQ 7993

AQA 7993 EPQ Information for Students - Launch to Students

(0)
This PowerPoint is aimed at students and aims to launch the EPQ process to students. It goes through the process from start to finish, concentrating more fully on the early stages such as choosing topic areas, how the course is structured it. The word document follows the launch and is for students to brainstorm on and work on, before the next lesson, when we share ideas and discuss whether some may be more or less viable. Introduction to Psychology for Yr 11 Taster Day: Artificial Intelligence

This provides a 1 hour plus start to Psychology develops the ideas surrounding intelligence, consciousness and what does it mean to be human. This is very much a discussion based Taster, which is particularly topical at the moment. The slides really centre around points to discuss, along with 2 video clips to help this. It requires no previous knowledge and does not preempt any of the content from the AS/A Level course. I have a 3 taster sessions, this is the 3rd (all uploaded).

Designed for Yr 12s or Yr 13s. The ppt runs through first aid - for bleeding, burns, unresponsiveness and choking. There is a relevant news article, quiz and then information for ‘what to do if...’ I also ordered a number of resusci annes from the BHF (10 free to schools) - these come with a training DVD and we worked through this. Students liked it, especially the practical aspect. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

Exemplar Work Wall Display

Use of exemplar material as wall displays can be great to help model A/A* work for students. The attachments are an example of Exemplar Work for Sociology (20/20) with a picture of it displayed in my room. I find the key terms great on the wall to draw the attention of the students. Having used the markscheme extensively with students, they have become adept at marking each others work pretty effectively with the AQA markscheme. I have also included a powerpoint that I used for staff training, to assist with the use of exemplar work being used around the college.

Introductory Lesson for A/AS Level Sociology

(1)
I use this lesson as my first lesson with my AS/A Level (Year 1) Sociology Class. The outline explains the 2 year course to them, and we use it as a folder organiser for sections of work. The powerpoint then runs through a range of activities, dealing with society, social imagination, norms and values, culture, social construction, ethnocentricism. The activities (word docs and video clip) link to the powerpoint. The key terms sheet allows them to reflect and record at the end of the lesson.

Flipped Learning: Staff Presentation/Training

I was asked to put together a presentation for staff to explain what Flipped Learning is, the importance of it and give some examples of how to use it. The PowerPoint does just that! This was followed up with further training sessions relating to Stretch and Challenge, which I am a Lead Practitioner for and use Flipped Learning as a strategy to develop this. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further explanation of any activities or further examples. The final data collection sheet I give as an example - is one that has been used in a training session I have attended. It has no copyright and I do not know who to credit it to.

The Secondary Sources PowerPoint works through the whole lesson - explaining and prompting where activities follow. It works through looking at the methodology with a case study booklet and the book (we use the Orange Rob Webb Book). Ideas are recorded on the sheet. The Past Questions sheet gives an idea of how the questions are set and the opportunity to try some. There is a peer marking activity. The Tick sheet is used to help students organise their folders/notes.

GCE Sociology AQA A'Level Paper 1: Education in Context

This is designed to help teach the Methods in Context Section for AQA A'level Paper 1. The PowerPoint introduces Methods in Context and the idea of Applying the method directly to the issue. I have used examples from the previous specification, as we have so few from the 2015 Spec. The table (word Doc) and powerpoint activity is designed to encourage students to think about how they would apply and focus their ideas, rather than generalising. There is a peer marking activity - with the current markscheme. A list of past questions, both previous and current specifications. Plenty of practice for students and can be adapted into group work for students to attempt and feedback to rest of group, or complete as individual revision/exam technique practise.
