Material match game - Year 1 Science. Cut out the cards and back them / laminate them. The children can then play a matching game by turning the cards face down. Child A will choose 2 cards. If they pick a pair that match they get to keep them,if not they put them back down then child B can go.

This would support a World War 2 topic. I used it in line with the book ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’. The children annotated the example text and picked out the features, such as subject specific vocabulary and features of a postcard.
