This is an engaging and collaborative partner activity on Pascal’s triangle and the Binomial Theorem. It consists of 9 sections. In the first section partners have to generate consecutive rows of the Pascal’s triangle. In the second section each partner has to evaluate three binomial coefficients (here it is used two different notations of the coefficients). Partners are asked to compare their results to see that they have obtained the same answers of their corresponding examples. Section three : each partner is given three problems – it is to determine which is the nth element of the mth row of Pascal’s triangle. Partners compare their results and see that again they have gotten the same answers. Section four: partners have to determine how many terms there are in the expansions of given binomials. Each partner has three problems to solve. Section five: each partner has to find the coefficient of the middle term in the expansion of a given binomial. Section six: each partner will expand completely four binomials. The problems of the partners are similar. In sections seven, eight and nine partners are given one and the same binomial. In section seven, partner A has to determine the coefficient of x and partner B – the coefficient of x^3 in the expansion on the binomial. In the last two sections each partner has to find the nth term of the expansion of the given binomial. This activity can turn into competitions between groups of two. The resource can be also used as two different forms ( A and B) of independent practice, homework and even as an assessment. (I have included modified pages so that the product to be also used as an independent practice, homework or as an assessment). Answer keys are included.

Problems of various difficulty are classified into 3 different types: ⟐ The first worksheet has the students solving 8 one-step inequalities. They are asked to solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph using interval notation. ⟐ The second worksheet is finding the solution sets of each of 6 two-step inequalities. Students are asked to solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph as an inequality involving x. They are also asked to express the graph using interval notation. ⟐ The third worksheet has the students solving 6 multi-step inequalities. They solve each inequality, graph its solutions and express the graph as an inequality involving x. Students also express the graph using interval notation. Students are provided a drawn number line for each inequality. This is an engaging activity on exploring quadratic functions. On each slide/page students are given a quadratic function in standard form and six statements concerning its characteristics (vertex, axis of symmetry, x-and y-intercepts, range, intervals of increase or decrease, value of the minimum or maximum). Each statement is written in a cell of a table where there are also given two options/buttons “True” and “False”. Students are asked to determine which of the statements are true and which are false and then to strike through the incorrect buttons or choose/mark the correct buttons/options. The slides/pages with problems are 8 (8 quadratic functions to be explored). This activity can be used as an independent practice, extra practice, homework assignment. Each partner is given 11 expressions. The partners’ corresponding problems are very similar so partners can discuss which method to use and help each other simplifying the expressions. Students compare their answers and see that these answers are very similar too like their problems. This product can be also used as independent practice with two different forms A and B. In this fun Valentine’s themed activity, students will practice simplifying trig expressions using the fundamental Pythagorean, quotient and reciprocal identities. Activity Directions: Students are asked to simplify 12 trig expressions. The corrected equivalent expresssions (the answers) are recorded on twelve of 13 hearts on a given picture. Every time students arrive at a correct answer, they will “win the heart” having this answer written on it. Students are also asked to find the only one heart who can NOT be won. The product can possibly be used as a partner or a group activity(group of 3). Student recording sheets, answer keys and solutions are provided. I hope you and your students ENJOY!

This activity is designed to be used for groups of 4, 3 and/or 2 members. It practices: • solving radical equations with one and two square roots • solving linear and quadratic equations • checking for extraneous solutions The radical equations contain: a monomial and/or a binomial under a radical symbol a radical expression on one side of the equation and a monomial or a binomial on the other side radical expressions on one side and respectively on the both sides of the equations (“radical equals radical”) Most of the equations require rearranging and isolating the radical and the rest are set up to square both sides. All the equations require squaring once. Activity Directions: Partners will each have their own set of eight problems of various difficulty. They reduce them to linear or quadratics and continue solving by any method they choose. Students write down the solutions of the problems on the recording sheet provided. They are instructed to check for extraneous solutions. Partners record their answers in tables on a group response sheet designed in such a way that students can analyze and compare their results easily. They must verify that all equations actually have the same solution except only one which has two distinct roots. I called this special equation “black sheep equation” and it is the equation B8. It can not be simply found without checking for extraneous solutions. All answer keys are provided. I hope your students enjoy searching for the “black sheep” and have fun with this activity.

There are two problems (A and B questions) on each of the 8 cards. Question A is to evaluate a limit analytically and Question B is to prove a limit’s equality. Half of the cards are 8 questions asking students to find the limits of rational and involving radicals functions as x approaches infinity. The other half of the cards contains limits where x approaches a finite number. Students are to find the limits of rational functions, functions involving radicals and trigonometric functions (some of which use the “special Limits" ( sin x /x, (1 - cos x)/ x^2)) . The limits in this activity can all be found without L’Hopital’s rule. The cards can be used as a partner or a group activity or as a review. There is a student recording sheet included. Answer keys are provided.

These are two practice forms A and B containing similar multiple-choice questions on trigonometric functions on the interval from 0 to 180 degrees. Students will need to use cofunction and reduction identities to handle the problems. Each form consists of 9 problems. 1,2 and 7 problems are evaluating an expression, problem 3 is finding the measure of the angle teta given an equation. Problem 4 is finding the value of sin/cos (teta) given the value of the cofunction of teta, it is given to which quadrant belongs teta. Problem 5 is evaluating an expression as students are given the value of one trig function. Problem 6 is finding the value of a product. This is a fun multiple-choice activity on applying exponent laws (only positive exponents included). On each slide/page there are two similar problems (expressions with two or three variables). Students have to simplify each expression and choose the correct answer between four optional answers. The problem is “labeled” with a large Latin letter written on a picture of a hen. The answer choices are “labeled” with small Latin letters written on pictures of chicks. Students write the letter of the chosen chick to the hen so to match the problem to its answer. The problem pages/slides are 10 (so students are provided with 20 problems). The problems increase in difficulty. This activity can be completed individually or in pairs. The answer key is included.
