A self contained lesson aimed at introducing key stage 2 primary students to electricity and circuit building. Includes an introductory video and activity, a main circuit building activity and plenary. Encompasses the science skills of predicting, collecting evidence, concluding and evaluating. Students will learn how to build a simple series circuit and test a range of materials for electrical conduction/insulation and also why they conduct/insulate. Ideal as a self contained lesson, online learning or if students do not have access to electrical materials to build circuits. Can also lead on to other circuit building activities and learning how to build different types of circuit.

It can be done as an easy experiment focusing on taking accurate observations/readings using a thermometer and exploring animal adaptations through their ears. It includes an introductory video exercise, experiment variables, data collection and analysis with plenary about animal ears. There are two lessons which are differentiated for use with/without equipment.
