A complete unit of work based on a creative writing assessment. Perfect for a high level Year 8 group or Year 9 mixed ability. There are some text extracts to accompany this PP however, due to copyright reasons I am unable to publish them. They can be easily found via a quick Google search or by photocopying them from the English textbook ‘Ignite 2’.

A presentation of the main tenses in English. There are no activities to do, it is only a visual presentation. Could quite easily be paired with some tense review worksheets. Perfect for ESL students or SEN students.
A creative writing unit ideal for Year 8. This unit focuses on exploring the conventions of horror and the Gothic. There are several extracts from various horror stories to help improve reading skills whilst a soft focus on SPAG. An ideal assessment at the end of the unit would be for students to create a short horror story.
A review of some poetic techniques, ideally suited to Y7\Y8. This could stretch over quite a few lessons. Included in the presentation are some explanations of the various techniques and some activities. There is also an assessment at the end of the presentation that could be adapted to suit your needs. This was adapted from something I found many years ago and have always found it a useful resource. I hope it helps!
