A Midsummer Night's Dream KS3
A 14 lesson scheme of work based on extract analysis from A Midsummer Night's Dream. This builds towards a reading assessment focusing on Titania and themes of conflict and the power of nature. There are also opportunities for group writing tasks and performance throughout.
KS2/3 Simile and Metaphor Consolidation
A pair of lessons with a range of activities to consolidate knowledge of simile and metaphor. Students are given tasks in which they must create their own and use them in writing. The first lesson includes identifying similes in the song 'You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch'. The second focuses on using images as a stimulus.
Activities are suitable for a high ability KS2 group or a mixed ability year 7 group.
GCSE A Christmas Carol Stave 3 Revision
3 lessons of extract analysis and revision activities for Stave 3 of A Christmas Carol. Extracts focus on the ghost, the Cratchits and Ignorance and Want. An exam process tablemat resource is included, as are notes on context, theme and language to stretch analytical skills. This could supplement an existing SoW or as additional revision activities for year 11.

Consists of revision of key skills for exam prep, exam practice questions with mark schemes and a couple of annotated model answers. A mini unit (4 lessons, 3 on content one reading exam) of work using the poems, 'Brothers' and 'Mother Diving' by Andrew Forster. The lessons were aimed at developing independence when tackling unseen poetry. Prior knowledge of basic language devices is assumed. Students are primarily exploring moods and feelings in the poems. These lessons would suit a higher ability year 7 group or mixed ability year 8 group.

A challenging pair of lessons that explores Shakespeare's 'Witches' Recipe' from Macbeth. First lesson explores some context and ideas along with analysis while the second lesson consolidates analysis skills. Ideally aimed at high ability year 8 at KS3. This may work as a springboard for preparing students to engage with ideas and poetry from the 'Conflict and Power' cluster for AQA GCSE English Literature. The lessons would work for a high ability year 8 group or lower year 9. Prior knowledge of basic language and poetic devices is assumed. Powerpoint slides could be printed for scaffolding.
