A half termly KS3 differentiated project to compliment Tudors - Year 7 and Year 8 World War One. The students bring in their completed homework projects during the last lesson of the half term. During this lesson all the homework is laid on the tables and in pairs students, using post its give each other ebi and www comments. Encourages the students to develop an interest in the subject and promotes independent research skills. A very simple and effective way at managing and marking homework.

A really handy resource for supporting students with organising their revision. Students go through their PLC and just jot down what they need to revise. I find students can sometimes get very overwhelmed, this is just a very simple way of getting students to use their PLCs and evaluate what they don’t know and focus on gaps in knowledge. It’s a really easy way to get students actively revising and is a great starter which you can get students to carry out in pairs a few lessons before any assessment. Hope you find it useful.

Chronological 4W booklet which develops students knowledge of the American West content by examining each key event. Students have to explain the why? who? what? when? and the consequences for all key events covered. I regularly set quizzes and homework using this student booklet and it has really helped students develop their overall understanding of the American West. It has also improved the quality of student exam responses to all the different exam styles, especially the narrative question.

This sheet has proven to be an extremely effective way of handing out homework and to direct students to when they have completed all their work in class. It’s saved me a lot of planning time and it’s easy to track, as students can fill it in themselves. Students glue it in the inside cover of their exercise books so it can always be referred to.

This is an excellent revision resource which provides guidance using examples of historical sources to help students answer the 8 mark - How useful question. It provides background information about the local context and discusses why particular key sources are useful to the historian.

I’ve found this to be a very positive exercise, as it encourages students to read through the whole textbook and learn key facts before revising exam technique and answering exam questions.
