First Maths - The First Stop For All Your Teaching Material

I am constantly looking for new and exciting different ways of presenting and teaching different primary topics, especially maths topics.

I am the Head Teacher Of Maria International School Of Bucharest in Romania. I am also very keen at developing different TES teaching resources to discover what works well for different classes. I am constantly looking for new and exciting different ways of presenting and teaching different primary topics, especially maths topics.

When I am revising maths, I like to ask a question and then the students answer it on their mini whiteboards. We then check the answer on the following slide. I have combined the test papers with the marking scheme, making teaching and learning a lot more fun.
There is differentiated revision material. There are tests for levels 3 - 5, and tests for level 6, and some which are for all the students. All the students should try all the tests, to both consolidate and extend their learning to make sure they have the maximum chance of reaching their true potential.
I have presented them in the different PowerPoint formats for the older and more modern computers.
Did you know pairing a high achieving and less high achieving child together actually helps both? As the more advanced student explains how to solve a problem, they too improve their knowledge of mathematical vocabulary.

Sample materials which combine the test papers and mark scheme to help teachers prepare for the 2016 tests. The idea being a student can answer one question and then together the class checks the answers. The original test papers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/2016-key-stage-2-mathematics-sample-test-materials-mark-schemes-and-test-administration-instructions. This is a great way of reviewing the maths tests as a whole class either as a way of revising after doing the sample tests or simple working through each question as a class.

These tests are set to change every 5 seconds, letting you test either individual children or a whole class at once. You might like to also look at my matching mini origami books which go with this series (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/mini-book-x2-to-x12-multiplication-times-table-tests-4-per-table-11198350) which are designed to make learning time tables more fun.
There are 4 tests per times table, so the children do not know what test you will give them. They are written in PowerPoint so you can easily edit them or change the speed of the tests.

I have developed a set of weekly Mental Maths for Year 3 children for teachers who want to include Minecraft in the classroom.
I wanted to develop resources where a teacher can teach with Minecraft in a classroom with a single computer and a projector.
I need to mention that Minecraft was created by Mojang AB. http://www.DrFog.co.uk is not endorsed, associated or affiliated with Mojang AB in any way.

These Powerpoint files are somewhat useful for teachers, if for nothing else than to review the material before presenting it to students in your classroom. The actual files could be set up better and don't actual show the placement on the number line.

I have developed a set of weekly Mental Maths for Year 2 children for teachers who want to include Minecraft in the classroom.

I want to make KS2 SATs revision fun. I want it to be something students and teachers really enjoy. I have taken each of the SATs tests and combined the original test papers and the original marking schemes into PowerPoints where you ask a question and immediately see the the answer on the next slide. This teaching packs covers KS2 Maths and KS2 SATs SPAG tests (Spag is English grammar, punctuation and spelling Papers)
The idea is that you can now ask a question and all your students show you the answer on their mini-whiteboards and then you discuss the answers together and see what would have got one or two points. As the students can work in pairs or small groups on the questions, they are less stressed and enjoy the whole revision process. In addition, it gives them a chance to learn about other student's strategies.
This pack could be used in the classroom for whole class teaching, for small groups or at home as a great teaching resource.

FREE Year 6 PowerPoint Lesson -Investigating Calendars - Autumn Term
Learning Objectives:
Make and investigate a general statement about familiar numbers by finding examples that satisfy it.
Develop from explaining a generalised relationship in words to expressing it in a formula using letters as symbols.
This lesson came from my FREE Year 6 Maths pack (11 Lessons) - https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/springboard-6-numeracy-resources-6167056

I have been a keen fan of this book for a long time. I was really excited to see as part of the Open Government scheme, I was able to take this book and make it into something I believe is much more user friendly.
When I used the original book with an interactive whiteboard, I was always annoyed at having to skim to the end of the book to show an answer. I wanted it on the next page.
In addition, I have now replaced all the pictured with much more stimulating colourful pictures. I have also taken the time to follow the advice of Dudley council and sorted the different problems into age groups and blocks.
You will notice there is some repetition of problems both between blocks and in different year groups. The students can try the same problem twice at different times, as this is excellent consolidation. It is also an excellent time to suggest students think about how they could change the problem.
How can this be used in the classroom?
This could be used as an assessment at the start or the end of a unit. It also could be used as an emergency set of lessons for any teacher while covering another teacher’s maths classes.
In addition, it is also an excellent set of resources to prepare for different exams. Look at how the students resolve a problem and identify the different ways different students attempt to answer the same problem.
In addition to answering the problems, this is also an excellent time to look into inverse operations. How do we know we have found all the answers? How do we know we have found the correct answer?
I have really enjoyed making these mental maths problems a lot more accessible. I have enjoyed teaching them in a wide range of different classes and I hope that you too will enjoy making maths fun.
