I am a subject leader for a successful Geography department. We currently teach AQA Geography at GCSE & A level. Over my twenty years of teaching experience, I have found that modelling is the most effective way of supporting students with exam preparation. My shop will save you many hours of preparation by supplying you with numerous model answers and supporting activities.

Model answer for the following exam question:
To what extent are the concepts of resilience, mitigation and adaptation exemplified by activities in and around Antarctica?
‘The Disaster Response Curve (The Park Model) has contributed to improved understanding and therefore management of the impact of tectonic hazards.’
To what extent do you agree with this view? [20 marks]
Students I teach find it difficult to evaluate the Park model and as AQA released an example of this in relation to tropical storms, I have decided to create a tectonic version instead.
The first version of the essay contains too much content and I use this to get students to discuss the validity of the arguments in each paragraph. Students then decide on which paragraphs should be omitted. The second page of the source contains the edited version with an outline of table that students can use to summaries the advantages and disadvantages of the model.
Evaluate the view that mitigation strategies are more important than adaptation strategies in addressing the risks posed by the degradation of the carbon cycle. (20) Edexcel 2018 (PHYSICAL SYSTEMS AND SUSTAINABILITY)
This resource includes an exemplar essay that has been written with guidance from the mark scheme.
This resource also includes links to wider reading material and supportive tasks that will help students to examine the key elements of the essay.
This question originates from Edexcel however, the content overlaps with the AQA specification.
Exemplar answers to these questions from the 2019 AQA A level paper:
‘Shoreline management/integrated coastal zone management can effectively tackle the expected eustatic sea level change and associated threat to coastal landscapes over the coming decades.’ 20 marks
Using Figure 6 and your own knowledge, assess the role of vegetation in the development of this landscape. (6 marks)
Explain the formation of a saltmarsh environment. (4 marks)
Coastal systems and landscapes preparation pack for the 2022 exams.
The following questions are predicted questions based upon the advanced information from AQA (7037 & 7036). This pack is designed be used in order to help prepare students for this summer’s A/S and A level geography exam for the coastal unit. However, I have no inside knowledge of AQA exams, and I would encourage students to revise other parts of the course as well.
This pack includes:
Exemplar answers to the following questions:
Using figure 1 and your own knowledge, assess the view that gravitational/tidal energy is the most important source of energy in the development of this coastal landscape. (6 marks) (A level)
Assess the role of geomorphological processes in the formation of fjords. (6 marks) (A level)
Assess the role of feedback systems in the formation of landscapes of coastal deposition. [9 marks] (AS question.)
“Attempts of mitigation and adaption by coastal managers will effectively manage the risks and allow opportunities for human occupation as well as development.”
With reference to a coastal landscape beyond the UK, to what extent do you agree with this view? [20 marks] (AS & A level)
This pack also includes five tasks to help students to improve their knowledge and understanding of this content, as well as links to website to help promote wider reading. From my experience most students are unable to achieve the highest grades as their responses reply to heavily on the core textbook. By using the exemplar essay students will gain a deeper understanding of the issues that are required to achieve the top grades.
In addition to the questions in this pack I would encourage students to practice the analyse question from the additional specimen paper on sediment transport pathways or the Chabahar Bay question from the 2018 paper.

To what extent can wildfires be caused, intensified and mitigated by human activity? 20 marks.

“Human activity affects coasts globally. This interference with coastal processes is the key determining factor in shaping coastal landscapes.” To what extent do you agree with this opinion? (20 marks)
Model answer for the above AQA Geography A level essay question.
An activity to go with this model answer is also included.
Please download to access the whole essay.
Referring to a coastal landscape outside the UK, assess the view that predicted climate change will only lead to negative impacts on the coastal areas. (20 marks)
Exemplar answer to the above question with supportive activities.
Model answer for the following AQA 20 mark A level question.
‘In a globalising world the use of the global common of Antarctica can never be sustainable.’ How far do you agree with this view?
Tasks have been created to go with the model answer.

024 – Analyse the data shown in figure 3 & 4. 6 marks
025 Assess the roles of weathering in the development of coastal landforms. 9 marks
026 ‘Sustainable approaches to coastal management will become more important than traditional approaches in dealing with the impacts of climate change.’ 20 marks
A glossary of key terms, theory and examples to support the teaching of global systems and global governance. This detailed resource contains over twelve pages of information that is structured in the order that this unit is taught,
I have designed this to support the AQA specification however, this will overlap with the other A level Geography specifications.
Assess the relative importance of NGO’s and international government organisations in enhancing protection of Antarctica. (20 marks)
Explain how trade agreements are a factor in globalisation. (4 marks.)
Exemplar answers to these two questions with a supportive key word exercise with an attached answer sheet.
2018 AQA A level Geography model answer for the following question:
‘Transnational corporations (TNCs) are the most significant factor in creating unequal flows of people and money within global systems.’ 20 marks.
Please download to access the full essay.
Also includes a supportive information gathering worksheet for students to use.
AQA GCSE Geography paper 3 pre-release support.
This document contains 7 pages of resources that can be set as homework to run along the pre-release booklet or taught in class.
Includes:
Exemplar answer to a question that could possibly be similar to the 9 mark question this summer.
Task sheet to help student to examine the pre-release booklet.
Additional suggested questions to practice.
With reference to at least one food commodity or one manufactured product. Assess the extent that international trade and investment can promote stability, growth and development for people and places. (20 marks)
This resource supports the teaching of global systems and global governance unit.
This resource includes:
Exemplar answer to the question above.
Links to wider reading material.

I am predicting that a similar question to this may appear in the 2022 summer exam due to the advanced information by AQA.

The resources I have created consist of:
A sorting activity which encourages students to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of globalisation for TNC’s, newly emerging economies/low income countries and high income countries

The resources includes:
An outline of how wave cut platforms form.
A systems analysis activity on wave cut platforms.
Exam questions and models answers to support students in assessing the role of different processes in the creation of coastal landscapes.
