9 Resources
A bundle of 9 resources on organic analyltical techniques including NMR and mass spec spectra cards, NMR, IR and Chromatograhpy knowledge organisers and an NMR graphic organiser (suitable for all A-Level Chemistry exam boards), a mass spectra fragmentation table and finally an organic analysis activity on alanine in which students have to identify alanine given a variety of spectra and physical data.
Organic analysis
polarity24polarity24

Organic analysis

(0)
An A-Level Chemistry resource which can be used as a starter/plenary on spectrometry. Student are given various physical data (melting point, solubility, rotation of polarised light, elemental analysis) and spectra (IR, NMR, Mass spec and pH). Students have to pull all the information together to identify the compound. The unknown compound is an amino acid, so it consolidates knowledge on chirality, solubility, zwitterions, pH and then understanding of the various spectroscopic techniques. takes about 10 mins for students to complete, answers are included on the last slide.
NMR Spectra
