Having spent 16 years as an analytical chemist, microbiologist, and ecotoxicologist, I made the move into teaching just over 10 years ago. The resources I build try to incorporate elements of fun, discovery, and personality into the curriculum topics, whilst also ensuring that the essential literacy, numeracy, and digital competencies are covered.

The structure and functions of blood

(0)
This is a resource built around the parts that make up blood. It is a literacy based resource which informs pupils about the structures that make blood as well as identifying the functions of the individual parts. Once the text has been read pupils can then go on to summarize their understanding by having a go at the cloze (filling in the gaps) task, and then further develop their application of the information gained by answering the GCSE based questions, including a final ‘Quality of written communication’ (QWC) task about ‘Sickle cell anaemia’.
