This Complete Revision & Practice Workbook is full of revision and practice for the Edexcel Russian GCSE course. 130 pages. It contains useful vocab list for all 5 required themes with subtopics, a variety of excercises and grammar notes, as well as exam-style questions, which cover the reading, translation and speaking skills needed for the exam. Learners will also benefit from mock exam tasks for wrtitten examination (shorter and longer essays questions and translation tasks - English into Russian) and speaking examination (10 picture based tasks with sample answers and 10 role play speaking cards). The book is rounded off with a complimentary 20-page translation activities pack (sentences and short exam-style texts for translating from Russian into English and vice versa). Answers to most practice questions are included to enable self-study. Although the book was developed in line with GCSE requirements, it is appropriate for any learners studying Russian towards A2 level and looking to expand and practise their vocabulary on such topics as family, hobby, free time, workday routine, the world around us, travelling, city, village, local area, school, education, future plans, the world around us, global issues, environment. A few small sections of this book are available separately on our store, including a free Sample GCSE speaking card.

This resource is aimed both at teachers preparing students for the new GCSE specification (first certification from 2019) as well as students. The file includes a student’s card (that imitates a card that a student will be given at the exam and based on which a discussion with the examiner will follow), a teacher’s card and sample answers to all five questions. Pages 3-4 provides possible answers aimed at achieving the highest grades. The answers can be used as a starting point for a discussion, to practise vocabulary (for example, do a word search) or certain grammar themes (e.g. find all examples of Genitive case in the text, find the verbs in the past tense, retell the text in the past tense or from the third person,etc). Teachers could encourage the students to discuss the sample answers, saying whether they share the same viewpoint. The paper is tailored to suit students preparing for Edexcel Russian Higher tier, but can also be used at Foundation level with minor modifications. It is designed to be as close as possible to the exam and sample assessment released by the exam board. The paper follows the order of tasks in an exam assessment paper: -shorter writing task; -longer writing task; -translation into Russian. Each task reflects the themes and subtopics prescribed by Edexcel board (e.g. food and drink, school, friendship, future plans, sport events, environment). There is a choice of 8 tasks in exercises 1 and 2 each and 4 texts for translation in exercise 3 to ensure as many subtopics are covered as it is possible.

11-page workbook with essential words and phrases on the subject of** food, ordering a meal at a restaurant, fast food (text and questions for discussion), paying the bill.** Varied exercises ensure you don’t get bored learning new vocab! Practise some grammar along the way - Instrumental case with preposition C and a quick revision of adjectives endings depending on the noun gender. Exercises include: multiple choice writing noun phrases in Instrumental case matching the pairs -filling the gaps -categorising words questions for discussion -arranging the phrases in the correct order and making a dialogue -vocab revision and making a dialogue. The exercises can be further adapted: instead of matching English to Russian equivalents students could be shown the phrases only in one language and asked to translate them students could be shown a phrase (e.g. “Can I have a burger, please?”) and asked to give an appropriate reply after reading the text students could write a similar essay discussing favourite foods/restaurants in their country/town or among their friends, etc -to practise the use of adjectives, students could be asked to give 2-3 extra adjectives to go with the given noun (e.g. wine - red, white, rose, alcohol-free) using the words from the exercises students could write their dream menu/ healthy menu/ fast-food menu, etc

18 pages of translation exercises to practise essential vocabulary and memorise key facts, numbers and ideas on the themes required for A-level specification. A total of 73 complex and compound sentences to be translated into Russian. Answers with possible translation variants are provided for each sentence. The 3 themes and subthemes covered are: Развитие российского общества -жизнь российской молодёжи -мир труда -образование Москва и С.-Петербург общественные проблемы реконструкция -окружающая среда Политическая и художественная культура в русскоязычном мире -цирк, музыка -СМИ, соцсети All sentences contain essential vocabulary required at A-level. Each sentence is developed using essential constructions. We included a variety syntax structures, coordinating/subordinate common and compound conjunctions, verbal forms to reflect the exam standard requirements. Almost each sentence contains a phrase to express an opinion, argument, make a conclusion and/or engage in a dialogue (e.g. I suppose, as far as I know, what do you think). Answers are provided to English sentences. However, the exercise can be done in reverse - using Russian answers to be translated into English.
