Trainer design project - Nike themed High levels of student engagement with this project. Students research Nike and a designer of their choice and design & make a trainer with their own fabric design. We use sublimation printing to create the fabric. The resources include: Full student booklet to use with PPT PPT with first 5 lessons + evaluation Shoe template in two formats (1 dtd which can be used on 2D design) 2 Homework tasks

A workbook to help develop students drawing skills in D&T. This could be used with GCSE or A level. The booklet includes guides for: Crating Construction lines 1, 2 and 3 point perspective Colour theory Rendering with pencils and graphic pens Basic fashion illustration There are written descriptions and instructions on each page and most pages include links to useful youtube tutorials. I use this booklet as an ongoing homework task with my classes. They can work through it in their own time throughout the year.

Short 10 lesson project for year 10 textiles students. The project includes: Theory of natural & manufactured fibres Theory of Rhovyl Steps to create Batik Steps for applique One homework design task BRIEF Design and make a ‘reading pillow’ for a child between the ages of 3-7. The pillow must have a pocket to hold books and include three decorative techniques. The pillow must be safe for a child to use.

This is a stand alone project that lasts approx 6 hours. It was created for at home learning in the event of a school closure. The project takes pupils through the design process where they will consider different types of exercise they could do at home, research sportswear brands and then design ‘lockdown sportswear’ for their chosen sport and brand. This can be completed on paper, in a workbook or on a computer. The resource includes worksheets that can be printed out.

This is my year 7 textiles project in which they make a calico drawstring bag which is painted with thermochromic paint. It is 13 lessons long. The resources include the PPT, all 3 homework sheets, teacher assessment sheets and worksheets. Pupils learn about health and safety, smart materials, block printing, fabrics, product anaysis, different stitches on the machine and by hand and the overlocker. There are starters and plenaries included for most lessons.

This design inspiration lesson can be taught as a standalone lesson or as part of a design project. This lesson aims to get pupils thinking about visual inspiration. They are asked to discuss what they think inspired famous products and are then tasked with generating quick design ideas for their product using given visual promps. This lesson was used for a phone case project but could be adapted to fit any project. The powerpoint and worksheet are included.
