Lesson on specialised cells that I've been able to use across KS3. Adapted from other resources on here so thanks :) Includes a fun independent and creative starter, card sort and also some dice to show/ test learning at the end of the lesson. Enjoy!

Chromatography lesson with independent learning worksheet getting pupils to develop their investigatory skills and see how chromatography is used in forensics.

I got pupils into groups and got them to model lungs using straws, cocktail sticks and raisins. The fastest group to create the most accurate model! It worked really well! When explaining gas exchange in our bodies I got pupils to volunteer and gave them signs saying 'lungs&', &';heart', &'red blood cell&';, 'oxygen&' etc. and got them to act it out as I explained it! Hope you enjoy teaching it- I did :)!

Lesson I used for a mixed ability year 7 class so is full of differentiation. The worksheet is differentiated 3 ways, you just need to cut it into 5 parts. When I talk about 'particle stickers' I just gave the pupils some small circle stickers to use which they enjoyed :) Hope this is useful!

First lesson on the respiration topic of the AQA syllabus. It worked really well and I did the combustion of icing sugar as a demo at the beginning of the lesson and also got the pupils up to breathe down straws into lime water!

I used this with a mixed ability year 7 class! Sheets included are one slightly easier that I gave to my weaker students. It also includes the picture I got pupils to annotate to consider what causes light to be blocked out. They loved colouring in the grapes and I had a lot of positive feedback! Give it a try :)!!

Lesson I used with a low ability year 8 group but worked really well and could easily be adapted for higher ability groups!

Lesson for a top set year 9 group, can easily be adapted for higher or lower ability! Includes, progress checks and teach your partner section. For set 1 I gave them blank pieces of card for the progress check but have included progress check cards with keywords on that just need to be put in order which I've used with a lower ability group. Here are some G&T questions I made up to challenge my more able students! I stuck them on A5 playing cards in difficulty order e.g. 2-5 easy (Aimed more at Year7) 6-9 Medium (Aimed at year 8) and 10-ace hard (Aimed at year 9). They include some 'How Science Works&' questions and also some general extension tasks. Enjoy- my classes love them!

I used this lesson with a very lively year 7 class, so added an element of drama to keep them engaged!

This lesson was largely independent learning. So i created different worksheets, two of which I have included and had textbooks and a computer available. I then split the class in half, half to learn about phagocytes and half to learn about lymphocytes. They then had to teach a partner about the type they'd learnt and vice versa. I then gave them the included worksheet to record their knowledge.

In this lesson I gave pupils an A3 sheet as they came in and got them to work on that for the whole lesson. The powerpoint includes a worksheet with questions differentiated by coloured outcome. I told pupils that they had to attempt certain questions dependent on their target grade, which is fab for differentiation! It's focused very much on independent learning and I projected the &'Keyword&'; powerpoint as they were doing the worksheet. I also included the demo using tights, swiss roll and coke to talk through the digestive system at the beginning! Happy teaching :)

This is a lesson recapping blood pressure then moving onto heart disease. Included are case study cards and a template for a 'heart disease fortune teller&' which I used as a plenary activity which girls in particular loved!

This is the first lesson I used in an electricity topic for a mixed ability year 7 set :)! Hope it's useful!

This worked really well with my year 10 class! The mindmap was fab! Got students into groups of 3-4 and I had to sign off each task when it was done in the square. I made each member of the group explain it to me before I signed it off so I could see they really understood it. It also got a real sense of competition going!

Lesson I used with a low/middle ability year 10 group about thermal decomposition of limestone and other metal carbonates. Includes a code breaker activity where students had to decode answers around the room! Worked well, and made the topic slightly more exciting :) Has a differentiated worksheet for writing equations for this topic too.

This is a lesson for a low-ability year 8 set so might need adaptation for other abilities. Loads of different activities- some adapted from other TES resources so thanks :) The table to fill in has got a SEN/easier version below it too. Enjoy :)
