A selection of eight quiz quizzes for GCSE revision/starter activities. A quiz for each Christianity and Islam Beliefs and Practices, War and Conflict, Religion and Life, Social Justice and Human rights and Crime and Punishment. I am currently using these at the start and the end of lessons to demonstrate learning. They are proving really useful to get students to remember keyterms/ideas.

A revision excercise to develop students’ understanding and memory of key quotes which can be made applicable to the core parts of the exam. Three excercises included. Cut the full quotes out and match up to the different religious themes: Crime and Punishment, Religion and Life, War and Conflict and Social Justice and Human rights. This helps students use general quotes to suit different purposes/topics. Students to study the full versions, have these taken away and then complete the word fill grids. Students only have the first and last word of the quote and fill out the middle section to really embed them. A great memory excercise which has proved highly successful with what is arguably one of the most difficult parts of the exam - remembering scripture.

This resource is suitable for KS3 students. This was created as part of the Crime and Punishment unit - AQA specification A. The unit explores the key terms surrounded with pacifism and uses the case study of Desmond Doss (Hacksaw Ridge) to explore the work of Conscientious Objectors. There is also a 12m examination question support worksheet using the FARMERS structure.

A comprehensive lesson which explores Christian and Scientific explanations of the origins of the universe. Included is an arrival activity/plenary sheet which I usually provide students on entrance to the classroom and which immediately demonstrates progress. Students will complete two short tasks and a worksheet which explores fundamentalist, conservative and liberal views on the creation story. The consolidate activity is a 4m aqa examination question.

A full lesson with resources on the civil rights movement and Rosa Parks. The lesson is framed around the p4c question, ‘Is it ever right to break the rules?’ Students will consider the impact of discrimination on society and the importance of standing up to social issues through the completion of a variety of different tasks/points of thought. The main activity involves a scaffolded consideration of Rosa Parks life through a story board. Students will consolidate learning through an evaluation question. I spent two hours on this topic with Y8 KS3 students.

Comprehensive revision for both Christianity beliefs and practices. Students begin by completing a revision checklist for topic. Then students complete the comprehension questions focusing on keywords, topics and main content. I usually provide students with information to complete this such as a powerpoint presentation, revision guide or textbook for anything they may be unsure of.

A comprehensive lesson covering all aspects of information relating to the freedom of religious expression AQA spec A - social justice unit. Includes quizzes, code breakers, videos, AFL (connect quiz/mini-plenary/plenary/self-assessment), and an extended writing task as a demonstration of learning. Lots of key discussion topics, EG, religious dress, persecution, Burqa ban and the FIBA ban of religious headgear forming the main activity.

A selection of homework sheets (9 in total) relevant to the AQA Christian beliefs unit. Included are 9 different worksheets and a revision worksheet suitable for an end of unit test. Activities included literacy activities, revision, examination questions, storyboards and QandA’s. Great for classwork or homework.

A comprehensive resource which covers all aspects of key knowledge relating to the Christianity and Islam (beliefs and practices) AQA spec A. Each key topic has a video link with relational key knowledge. Particularly good for boys, disengaged learners. I set this for homework/revision/intervention.

A comprehensive lesson covering all aspects of the 5 moral precepts. Use of cognitive science, retrieval and retention. Students stick in relevant and memorable pictures relating to the precepts and are provided with questions/annotations. Students then complete a main task considering situations and the ways in which a Buddhist would apply the precepts.

One slide of tasks for students who have access to a computer to complete a research activity on Alpha. I set this for cover and was extremely pleased with the results. The slide instructs students to research varying parts of the course - eg - the aims/pupose/alpha in prisons etc. It also prompts students to link the aims of alpha to the role of mission and evangelism in the church (we cover this as part of AQA gcse,

Citizenship lessons on how citizens rights have developed over time. Analysis of the Magna Carta, the introduction to the Rule of Law and the impact this later had on human rights. I completed these lessons with a very low ability and it took 3 entire lessons; however, it could be potentially cut down to two. Lots of differentiated resources - all activities come with help sheets/hints.
