KS3 / KS4 Factorising Quadratics Whole Lesson with Homework

(0)
A lesson I taught for an observation on Factorising Quadratics to a middle ability Year 9 group. This lesson is suitable for groups from Y8 - Y11 depending on ability. Prior knowledge of factorisation with single brackets would be helpful. I have also uploaded the lesson plan for this observation / lesson. Lots of questions are given on the board so pupils work independently and share ideas with class during a group discussion. Please use and let me know what you think. I do not claim to own all of the resources published here - some are questions that have been adapted by other TES users (please contact me if you would like credit / removing).

KS4 Expanding Brackets (Double & Triple) / Pascals Triangle Intro

(0)
A sequence of lessons on Expanding Triple brackets designed for a high ability KS4 group. Prior knowledge of Expanding Double Brackets is required but is covered quickly as part of the starter. The structure of expanding triple brackets is clearly shown and the idea of using Pascals Triangle is introduced (this is not in the GCSE spec but is useful for a top set). Lots of questions are given on the board so pupils work independently and share ideas with class during a group discussion. Please use and let me know what you think.

A series of lessons on finding percentages of amounts, both with and without a calculator. Designed for a KS3 class with lots of questions and activities built into the powerpoint. The cross-number was not made by me - credit goes to Miss Brookes Maths but it is so good I have included it here. If anyone would like me to remove this please let me know. Please use and let me know what you think.

(1)
A sequence of lessons on Factorising Trinomials (Quadratics with a co-efficient of x sqd) designed for a high ability KS3 or KS4 group. Prior knowledge of Factorising Quadratics is required - a lesson on this can be found here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks3-ks4-factorising-quadratics-whole-lesson-with-homework-11772896 The structure of factorisation is clearly shown and starter activities are used to highlight key topics covered over the previous weeks. General Election 2017 Activity - Venn Diagram

(0)
Whilst reading the Economist I saw a Venn Diagram which illustrated the 4 main political parties policies and so I created a version where the pupils can discuss which policies relate to which political party. I found it useful in Tutor Time to start a discuss around the General Election and it can also be used as an introduction to Venn Diagrams (real life context).

A lesson I have adapted from other TES users over the years. This lesson begins with a problem and an interactive GIF to demonstrate Pythagoras theorem visually. There are some superb activities here and problems to make students think carefully about applying Pythagoras theorem in different contexts. It is up to you to explore and deepen pupils understanding! A worksheet that I also made which increases steadily in difficulty is attached. Please use, share and let me know what you think.
