A seven lesson bundle that takes students through three poems from the cluster before introducing them to how to compare them successfully in the exam. The comparison lesson focuses on Ozymandias and My Last Duchess but either could easily be substituted for Charge of the Light Brigade as they are all themed with the question that is looked at.

Planning grid included along with a model paragraph and extended writing opportunity. This lesson is aimed at top set GCSE classes and looks in depth at the sonnet form and how it has been exploited but could easily be adapted to suit lower abilities. These lessons are designed to be taught to students who have already studied the novel in preparation for their exam and include class reading, focus questions, language analysis, mock exam and mark scheme. Fully differentiated with lots of stretch and support, these lessons are also a good starting point for the first teaching of the novel. Later weeks to be added as planned.

A three lesson bundle on the balcony scene. Lesson one focuses on Romeo's soliloquy and uses Shakespearean scientific theory to extend analysis of key quotations. Lesson 2 focuses on Juliet's response. Lesson 3 focuses on comparisons to Genesis and the Bible to really extend students' analysis of this key scene. Throughout they are encouraged to make links between this scene and the wider play.
