A two week scheme of work that looks at 19th Century and then moves on to The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and The Red Room by H.G Wells. It ends with an assessment essay that compares how tension is created in the short stories. Fully differentiated and all resources included (including an essay plan) - a great scheme of work for Y8 or Y9 to encourage interest in the 19th Century.

A booklet that focuses on building reading fluency. Extracts, vocabulary work, comprehension tasks and deep reading activities all included. Would be ideal for use across the whole school as a reading improvement strategy or in smaller intervention groups. This booklet is designed to cover four 30 minute sessions per extract and there are six extracts in total.

A booklet which gives pupils a clear structure to answer the 40-mark question on the GCSE exam. Can be used as a unit of work in class (6-7 lessons) or given to pupils to work through at home/as independent work. Pupils are taken through the structure, one step at a time, with opportunities to practice as well as high-quality models provided. A proven approach which can be used from Year 7 onwards to support with building effective descriptions/narratives.

A complete scheme of work based on the AQA 1-9 exam but very easily adaptable for all boards. 21 full lessons including learning objectives and outcomes (and this doesn't include watching the movie!) Fully differentiated and beautifully presented, students are led through the entire text, looking in detail at language and structure while being encouraged to make links to the wider play. Includes an exam preparation lesson and three mock papers to be used within lessons, as homework or as timed response practice. A 6 week, fully resourced scheme of work on Animal Farm. Would be suitable for Year 7 or Year 8 pupils - easily differentitated up for Year 9. The scheme starts by building key skills such as inference and writer’s intention, before moving on to some context and the novella itself. Detailed PPTs begin with a ‘do now’ activity (all questions based on core knowledge and vocabulary rather than plot) as well as introducing a tier-2 key word which is relevant to the lesson. There are a range of activities, differentiated (structure strips and differentiated resources included) and every lesson ends with an exit ticket.

A 50 lesson booklet (in which a cold-read of the text is included for 8 lessons) that covers the novella in its entirety and includes a knowledge organiser. Each lesson begins with a knowledge recap, key tier two vocabulary and and an activity before moving on to the lesson. Booklet is designed to be used exclusively, with extended writing tasks signposted to be completed in exercise books bu this can be easily adapted. Language Paper 1 skills are also covered in this booklet.
