I am a Science Teacher with 25 years experience and love producing resources. As one of my HoD's remarked "Your lesson plans and resources are outstanding, if only you could teach as good as your resources." Chemistry is my main subject, but have an interest in Pedagogy, especially CASE (Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education) and misconceptions and how to overcome them.

Understanding Electricity Voltage and Current

(1)
Understanding voltage and current in an electrical circuit in this powerpoint by showing students as close to what happens as possible. If shows the electrons moving being pushed by the battery. The effects of two batteries and the effect of two bulbs. This is small part of a larger resource on electricity to be published soon. I hope it helps your students have a better understanding. Neutralisation Required Practical Revision

Neutralisation Required Practical Revision

(1)
This Chemistry resource is used with KS4 students. These exam style questions are adapted from AQA past papers and are now individually graded 9-1. It is designed to ask questions on Working Scientifically and the Maths calculations that are involved. It is normally post practical to test students understanding. It can be used in conjunction with the practical, as a revision or homework activity. It can be used with all abilities and comes with answers. This is for students studying AQA Science 2019. It covers practical procedure (WS 2.2), risks, hazards and control (WS 2.4) and reading scales (WS 2.6). It covers the following subjects: Resolution, Range, Accuracy, Risk Assessment, Independent, Dependent and Control variables, Converting between units, Calculating the mean, recognising Anomalous results etc. On the top right-hand corner of the sheet the students can identify areas where they need to improve so that teachers can easily see which section they are having trouble with. For all the Chemistry Practicals (now individually graded) and a help sheet , check out: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/all-aqa-chemistry-required-practical-revision-with-exam-style-questions-and-answers-2019-12197299 For other resources (Biology and Physics versions of these, please check out my shop with free and paid for resources at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/stephenkemp193 It can be used as part of the required practical in lessons, as a homework or a revision sheet (even a cover lesson with the answer sheets!). Please comment. Hope you find this resource useful!
Free Science Cover Enquiry Lesson on Weight (suitable for home use)

Free Science Cover Enquiry Lesson on Weight (suitable for home use)

(0)
This is a COVER lesson that can be given to students for home study. It follows the KS3 AQA Enquiry Processes (skills rather than knowledge) so it can be given off topic as a cover lesson or used yourself. It includes: A large main activity sheet (please print both sides onto A3) with an answer sheet if they get stuck (or the supply teacher does…) A simple Power Point to guide the class through the activities A straight forward lesson plan with lesson objectives etc. All files are editable. Hope you find this useful next time you have a colleague off (or you need a cover lesson to hand in if you’re not in for any reason.) Most of us know that one of the most difficult parts of being a science teacher was being told by your HoD when you arrive, “Miss/Mr X is not in today can you plan his/her Period 1 lesson” (And you haven’t planned yours either!) So here it is, hopefully a lesson that can be given to the supply teacher, with hardly any modifications. Depends on how this is received I may produce some more of these. Feel free to check out my shop for more free (and paid) resources: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/stephenkemp193 Please comment if you have found this useful, it will spur me on to produce more.

This is a helpsheet that uses the circle/ring the formula method to stop students from the misconception of changing the subscripted formula. Students can use this to help them answer questions until they don’t need this scaffolding. There are a lot of balancing equation question sheets, but not many free methods. Hope this is useful. If you have found this useful, please comment, as it helps other TES user find useful resources. Thank you. Physics Equations Uses and Understanding AQA 2019

(0)
This lesson is used to introduce Physics equations to students. It explains where they come from, how we use them, how to convert the equation into a triangle, so that it can be rearranged. It includes a sheet where equations can be added and analysed when they come across a new one. The worksheet can be stuck in their book and new ones added in when you come across them or used as revision activity. This will allow them to think about it before they use it. Enjoy!
