We do a unit of Knights and Ladies that aligns with our study of nouns. All of my students are ELLs and these have helped to improve their noun vocabulary. This Initial Sounds Center is a perfect center for any Reception or Year 1 classroom! At the center, students clip the letter on the clothes pin to the picture with the matching beginning sound. The beginning sounds sheets are included in colour and black & white. To organise this center, I print each letter chart with a different coloured background and then laminate. Using a different coloured marker for each clothes pin set, I write lower case letters from a to z. Each set is put in a plastic ziploc baggie.
