This is a revision lesson of Elizabeth Bishop’s ‘The Fish’ and ‘The Prodigal Son’. This analyzes the theme of nature, imagery and also other poetic techniques from both poems. It also gives a small background of Bishop.

This lesson was an observation lesson for performance management to a group of Year 7 students who are studying Gothic Literature. This lesson can also be used within a creative writing unit. The lesson is structured in a way where students are given awareness of the impact of short and long sentences. There are also multiple hinge questions and plenaries to assess the learning before completing the final task which is then peer assessed.

An English Language Paper 2 Non Fiction Booklet which can be used for revision or for lessons. There are 6 articles with 20 questions and also a long question focusing on the writers’ opinions and perspectives. There is also an aswer booklet for the 120 questions.

This is the first of 24 lessons on the scheme of work I have created. This gives students knowledge of the context by finding information on ‘The Great Depression’ and what life was like during this time. This Lesson focuses on students’ first impressions of Lennie within Of Mice and Men. It will be clear to students that appearances are deceiving with Steinbecks use of language and the reality of Lennie’s character. In this lesson we focus on what the men in the bunk house say about Curley’s Wife-making students aware this automatically gives us a bad impression of Curley’s Wife without even meeting her yet! This focuses on Steinbeck’s intentions regarding rumours and also opening the discussion on gender inequality within the novel. This lesson follows on from the previous two lessons on Curley’s Wife where we compare students initial impression of Curley’s Wife from rumours and their own impression of Curley’s Wife. Information on racism at this time is given to students and how we see this throughout. This is a resource I used with my KS4 students on their Coursework A for Pearson IGCSE Edexcel. This was used after students were due to submit their final piece of work. This RAG (Red, Amber, Green) list asks them several questions to make sure they have proofread their essay before submission. The resource is 2 pages and can be glued into their books or placed into their folder.

This resource is used after a mock examination to make students more reflective on what area’s of improvement they need to study. The booklet is 10 pages in total and asks students to rate their confidence in each question out of 10. It then ask a series of questions to make students reflect on their mock and how to improve. Students then rate each Non Fiction text, Section B Text Types and Topics before writing a “To Do List” which promotes independent study. I have used this with both of my Year 10 and Year 11 students after their mock examinations and they found it very beneficial. Exam: IGCSE Pearson EDEXCEL English Language A

A PowerPoint presentation that analyses Bertie and Lionel's relationship in The Kings Speech. There are links to two particular scenes showing the development of the relationship embedded in the PowerPoint which are used for students to analyse. Students are then asked to work in pairs to create a timeline of this relationship. Students have clear aims from the start and deep analysis of the relationship is explored using questioning, visual prompts, pair and individual work.

A differentiated recap on Blood Brothers. The resource includes 2 seperate worksheets: One for mixed ability for written answers and the other for lower ability which asks multiple choice questions.

A PowerPoint which studies key scenes that Lady Macbeth is involved in as part of an assessment question. There are questions embedded within the PowerPoint and also analysis of extracts.

An excellent resource to be used at the end of the play to analyse the key scenes in the play. These also include key extracts that students can be used for questions on the play. At the end of the PowerPoint the students are asked to write about a certain theme(s) using key scenes.

A PowerPoint that I made for my lower ability Year 10 GCSE group. There is a matching activity within the PowerPoint where students use the pictures to find the line or lines of the poem that relates to the picture. There are also opportunities to have your own questions depending on your group and an opportunity for students to practice their presentation skills.
