Inverse Functions

(0)
Inverse function lesson used during a NQT observation to a higher year 10 group. Uses function machines to help with the concept of ‘going backwards’ before moving to an algebraic method got replacing f(x) with y and rearranging. Works great with the inverse function tarsia I have also created.

N3 - Four Operations

7 Resources
A collection of lessons focusing on the efficiency of calculations including: The properties of Addition and Subtraction Learn different ways to carry out multiplication Formal methods of long and short division Factors and Multiples A consolidation lesson for the four operations The properties of odds, evens, primes, squares and cubes Order of operations
Read and write positive integers

This lesson discusses the Arabic numeral system and introduces the students to place value. There is lots of opportunity for discussion on how to represent numbers before introducing a place value table that can help for numbers in any base. Continues onto placing numbers on a number line where you can explore differing intervals. Adapted using resources from WR maths and my own input.
The place value of decimals

The place value of decimals

(0)
This lesson looks at the place value of decimals, how to write and say them, and placing them on a number line. Use of WR maths resources, other resources found on line and my own input.
The order of operations
tomprotheroe92tomprotheroe92

The order of operations

(0)
This lesson looks at the order of operations within calculations. It encourages students to think about why this is the order of operations. Some of the resources have come from WR maths.

Odd, even, prime, square and cube numbers

(0)
Lesson that looks at: identifying odd and even numbers sense checking calculations such as odd+odd=even Prime numbers How to calculate square numbers (inc video demo) How to calculate cube numbers (inc video demo) You must enable content for all videos to work.
Circles

Circles

3 Resources
Lesson 1 - Drawing circles with a compass. Radius and diameter Lesson 2 - Circumference and discovering Pi Lesson 3 - Estimating the area and using Pi to find the area Perfect for an intro to circles as it gets the students to discover and discuss their findings.
