A complete lesson that covers the description and interpretation of population pyramids. Objectives are linked to the demands of the new GCSE AQA 9-1 Syllabus. It is a fully resourced standalone lesson but follows on from the demographic transition lesson. No other resources are required and worksheets of up to date pyramids for annotation are included. I have also included a past exam question. Aimed at GCSE, this would also be suitable for KS3 as the activities can differentiate by outcome.
Designed for the 9-1 AQA Geography Exam. A complete lesson based on the Thar Desert as a case study for the Opportunities and Challenges section. The lesson contains a video link that covers the case study in detail. This is supported by a scaffolded exam question which includes an answer sheet. The lesson combines a memorable case study with a structured assessment activity. The examiner reports identifies that students found applying specific information to this question was problematic for many and the scaffolded exam question addresses this issue. They all remember the golden rat!
