A Level Biology Maths Skills - Logarithms, Log graphs and exponential increases worksheet 4 sides and all answers included. The Worksheet gives brief summaries of the skills involved in working with factors of 10 and logarithms, as well us using 2 to the power functions for calculating the exponential increase of cell populations. 2 pages focus on dealing with log scales on graphs. My students have found these particularly useful, and these are definitiely an area for marginal gains with the examboard. The logarithmic question for AQA 2023 paper 3 was poorly answered with 17% of candidates not even attempting the question. The log graph question in 2023 paper 1 saw only 7% of students achieve 2 marks.

A single sided worksheet to guide students through the use of standard deviation when analysing and comparing data. It does not go over the calculation. Markscheme included

This sheet has been produced with the AQA spec in mind but would be highly relevant to any A level Biology course. It touches on introns and exons, how to read a triplet table and the nature of the genetic code being Universal, Non-overlapping and Degenerate, whilst recapping some of the basics on nucleotides and amino acids. Also included is a comprehensive markscheme which you could scroll through via a projector to review with your class.

It is a comprehensive Powerpoint with useful animations which I have used many times to successfully walk my A level students through autosomal linkage. Most of the slides have information in the 'notes' section to help guide you through each slide. GCSE Biology - Protein Synthesis mechanism presentation which can be used to walk through protein synthesis with your GCSE classes. Covers, transcription, translation and the triplet code (although doesn’t explicitly refer to them as transcription and translation!) ***Not suitable for Edexcel exam board as there is no mention of tRNA

It has a particular focus on signalling pathways and cancer. Answers are included as well as a simple presentation to cover the key features of ATP

A Level Mitosis revision relay quiz. Team based quiz in which teams race to complete a series of questions correctly, whilst giving you the perfect opportunity to provide some verbal feedback! Instructions and markscheme included! Copy up the pack and sort using different coloured paper for each team - they have to chack their answers are correct before they progress onto the next question, providing you an excellent opportunity for AfL. Answers included Includes data and plenty of maths

Students can practise identifying the salts, or which reactants are needed to form a particular salt. For each equation they have to produce a balanced equation. This activity has worked well with my higher ability groups as a piece of AfL. The answers are actually included within a PowerPoint presentation for you to project.

RAG Class Voting Quiz to use with Red/Amber/Green Cards Relay Quiz - Print slides 1 – 4 single sided in a separate colour for each team. Slice and put in a pile and staple the stack so it is in numerical order. Teams have to come and collect the 1st question, take it back to their team to answer, then bring it to you (the teacher) to have it checked. If they are correct they can move on to the next question. If they are wrong, you may choose to give them some verbal feedback they can share with their team. Great AfL activity which my students LOVE!
