This is part of scheme of learning for Key Stage 3 about the Cold War which looks at how Russia became communist in the first place, and puts the Cold War into its ideological context. It follows the lessons also included on the atomic bomb and capitalism and communism. IDEOLOGY GAME/ROLE PLAY/EVALUATIVE WRITING FOR EXAMINATION PRACTICE.

(0)
This resource focuses on explaining capitalism and communism through role play. Students are each given a character from either 1945 USSR or USA with information about their situation. They have to interview each other and record their results on a grid. They then use the grid to write an extended piece of evaluative writing - structure included to help students who require support. I have found this very useful to help students understand from the perspective of others in a fun way. The resource contains a short Power Point with instructions; colour-coded differentiated characters; and a grid to record findings.
