A PRACTICE PAPER TO BE USED AS LESSON 11 IN THE SCHEME OF LEARNING

This is part of scheme of learning for Key Stage 3 about the Cold War which looks at how Russia became communist in the first place, and puts the Cold War into its ideological context. It follows the lessons also included on the atomic bomb and capitalism and communism. It comprises of 2x1hours, and makes use of YouTube clips about the Bolshevik Revolution and communism, and there is also a resource for students to answer questions while they watch. I have found it to be a useful lesson for online teaching.

This is part of a scheme of learning that made for Year 9 about the Cold War era. It is about Berlin as a divided City and is lesson 11-12 in the scheme of learning. It focuses on the origins of the division; differences in peoples’ live in the east and west; the causes and consequences of the Berlin Wall; and looks at escape attempts. It includes clips and tasks.

This resource addresses the successes of President Johnson and civil rights. It involves looking at enclosed source materials and personal research to make an assessment on Johnson’s achievements. It contains video clips; sources and opportunities for evaluative group work. It would take about 3 hours to complete this lesson. The lessons were created for the AQA American Dream unit, but are suitable for any post 16 study of post war USA.

This resource focuses on explaining capitalism and communism through role play. Students are each given a character from either 1945 USSR or USA with information about their situation. They have to interview each other and record their results on a grid. They then use the grid to write an extended piece of evaluative writing - structure included to help students who require support. I have found this very useful to help students understand from the perspective of others in a fun way. The resource contains a short Power Point with instructions; colour-coded differentiated characters; and a grid to record findings.
