INSPECTOR CALLS REVISION GUIDE

(0)
I created this revision guide to help students who are studying ‘An Inspector Calls’ for their English GCSE exam. I am an experienced English teacher and also studied this play when I was a student and would have liked a revision guide that includes everything that I need for the exam. Many students show a good knowledge of the characters in the play but might struggle on how to write about these characters effectively and how to incorporate multiple interpretations. This revision guide goes through all the characters in the play in detail, techniques used in the play with examples, context, multiple interpretations, a PEEL model answer, an example essay plan and exercises that you can do to strengthen your understanding of the play. There are 24 pages in total covering all the aspects mentioned above.

Bosola's monologues - The Duchess of Malfi

This lesson is an A level lesson focusing on the revenge tragedy ‘The Duchess of Malfi’. The PP slides include key questions to ask a class that will allow them to interpret key scenes in different ways and think about the importance of characterisation. The slides primarily focus on Act 3, Scene 3 of ‘The Duchess of Malfi’. As it is for an A level class, the idea is that students sit in groups and discuss the following questions and give feedback eventually.

Travel Writing - GCSE/A LEVEL

I made this PP slide for a lesson that was focusing on travel writing. This lesson focuses on the conventions of travel writing and includes a task focusing on a travel writing text that is full of imagery. The plenary lesson allows students to put these conventions into practice and write about a specific site which they find interesting.

Audio Narrative - English Language and Literature

This resource was made for an A level class and looks at the audio narrative text in the OCR A level English Language and Literature (EMC) anthology for Paper 1. It looks at key features found in the text and includes key aspects of analysis. The audio narrative analysed is called ‘Working in America’ which focuses on the personal lives of those who want to find meaning in society and how they try to locate themselves in society. FEMALE POLICE OFFICER’S AUDIO DIARY ON WORKING LIFE This is one of 24 raw and authentic individual stories about work and working, profiling people from 17 states ranging in ages from 21 to 87. It is part of the multimedia initiative Working in America inspired by Studs Terkel’s 1974 book Working, in which he transcribed different people talking about the everyday challenges, triumphs and realities of their working lives.
