A set of letter recognition peg cards (upper case to lower case) and initial sound picture peg cards.
Cut out and laminate cards then provide small pegs for children to select the correct letters / sounds.
Avery label template with EYFS Reading and Writing statement
40-60, ELG and Exceeding statements.
I use alongside a date stamp and next steps statements to stick into learning journeys / folders / books during the year.
Handwriting sheets with three lines (I call them sky, land, sea) which can be left as they are or highlighted.
I have written the words on both sides so it is easier for left handed children to read the sounds as they write.
Large lines for introduction of letter formation to help children with less fine motor control. I would reduce these down for more confident writers.
Can be laminated for use with whiteboard pens or printed as writing sheets. I use these alongside phonics teaching for letter formation practice.
To use the suffixes -ing or -ed where no change is needed in the spelling of the root word.
Add the suffix -ing in one column and -ed in the next.
Apply words created to sentences.
Instructions for introducing super sentences to children for sentence building, handwriting and letter formation practice.
I find this really successful helping emergent writers with letter formation, word building and finger spaces and more able children begin to write their own sentences.
I write the words on the line so they can copy them in the right place as it is not an independent writing exercise, it is more focused on the handwriting and letter formation so copy writing isn’t a problem.
A selection of phase 3 phonics activities supporting letters and sounds order or phonemes including activity sheets and activity cards for continuous provision.
Year 1 statments checklist on one page
I stick on inside of English / Maths books to tick off / highlight each term while marking so I can easily see gaps.
