This resource can be used as an assessment or learning activity. Can the child count the set accurately and identify, by circling, the correct number label?

Collect items. Make sure you have groups of one and groups of more than one. I tried to choose items that my pupil would be able to spell. For example- sticks, pens, rocks, coins, spots, seeds and buttons. Ask the child to sort the items into groups and then to write a list/ inventory. Whilst doing so I explained the use of s and the meaning of plural. Writing the list will also provide repetitive spelling practise/ a chance to learn how to spell the word some.
