Crack The Safe - Fractions Collection

Crack The Safe - Fractions Collection

Four “Crack The Safe” activities on fractions: adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing, mixed numbers and fraction of an amount. Each contains six questions and ten possible answers. The reason behind this is to allow students to check their own answers whilst the teacher can spend time with anyone who requires more help. I find these work nicely as starters or plenaries but obviously you can use them however you like.

Y6 Mathematics -Number: The four operations: formal written methods. Differentiated worksheets.

These differentiated sets of worksheets are written to meet the objectives for Year 6 Number. Each of the five topics (addition, subtraction, long multiplication, short division, long division) is split into three levels, indicated on the worksheets by 1, 2 or 3 stars. There are 3 versions of each worksheet. There are 45 worksheets in all, plus answer sheets. The material could be used in several ways: * work through all the levels with the whole class * use the levels to target varying abilities within the class * use extra versions of tasks to set as follow-up homework * where pupils are inclined to copy, use different versions of worksheets to ensure independent working * extra versions of tasks can be set as assessment at the end of a unit Learning objectives are given at the beginning of each sheet. A simple ‘thumbs up’ style of self-assessment is printed at the bottom of each task.

Math Operations Board Game: Fast Lane

Math Operations Board Game: Fast Lane

Board games are the best way to make math practice fun and engaging! In fact, playing board games is one way we can experience the beauty of Math all around us through group work, tactile manipulation, and friendly competition. In most games, however, math games are too straightforward with cards of math problems for players to solve, or numbered spaced to count. The games are far from fun, only allowing kids to practice math facts or formulas. “LANE SHIFT” integrates deeper mathematical thinking into the gameplay. Students will learn to use all four basic mathematical operations while navigating a highway with 4 different lanes. Each lane on the highway has its own unique features which increases in difficulty as you go from slow lane to fast. Race to the end and win! Combined with highly visual game pieces, fun dice, and interactive game profile cards, Lane Shift will provide your students with an experience like no other! This game package comes with (6) 12 –sided dice, (4) player profile and math work game cards, (4) game pieces. There is also a complete set in black and white monotone for those who have limited ink or toner resources. Detailed instructions with illustrations are provided as well as assembly directions if needed. There are also player piece blanks which allow your students to customize and draw their own for a more personal approach. Each dice represents the start and end of the equation that the student will be rolling. A separate dice is provided to determine which operation will be used. This game can be customized to use with any curricula, grade levels K-8. For younger students or special education, choose specific lanes instead of using all four. This game can be used as an end of unit assessment or as a permanent resource available in the classroom to be used at a given time. Your students will lock into the competition and have fun all while learning Math. Have a game that is out-of-the-box and engaging. Students will be asking to player Lane Shift as long as they know it’s in your classroom. What more is to say!!!

BIDMAS - BIDMAS code breaker worksheets

BIDMAS - BIDMAS code breaker worksheets

Use the order of operations (BIDMAS) to reveal a secret maths joke. Make your students feel like a spy trying to crack a code in a fun and novel way for students to practice the order of operations. This product contains 3 different levels of difficulty: order of operations with multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting - BIDMAS with brackets and the 4 operations - BIDMAS including indices. This will keep students really busy and help them to check their own working as they go. This is perfect for consolidation on the order of operations if you don’t want to use a traditional worksheet. Each difficulty is colour coded (blue =easy, gold = medium, red = hard). All the answers are included. Suggestions for use: Give to students to do by themselves (self differentiated or teacher chooses) Give for homework Use as a collaborative task - (pairs/3s work out a column each) See here for other BIDMAS resources See here for other code breakers.
